You’re invited to join in a Tri-Parish Healing Mass

“Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church,

and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.”

There has been some confusion over the years in regards to what many would call the “last Sacrament of the

Church”. It was very common at the moment of death to call for the priest to administer the Last Rites of the

Church. It was at this time that the priest would offer the dying Catholic a last opportunity for absolution,

anointing and Viaticum (Holy Communion). It wasn’t until the Second Vatican Council that this Sacrament was

expanded into the understanding we have today. It is part of our human nature that from time to time we are all

in need of healing. This healing may be in the form of physical, mental, emotional or spiritual healing. Al-

though it is still important to offer the Anointing of the Sick to those who are dying, it is also important to offer

this Sacrament to those who may not be facing death but nonetheless are still struggling with illness or the frail-

ties of advanced age. These illnesses may be physical, emotional or spiritual.

Our parishes will offer a Healing Mass on Sunday, October 29th - 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph Parish Center (this will

accommodate those for whom getting in the church is difficult). This Mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation.

As Catholics we believe that healing occurs during all Masses. God wants to heal us and will heal though the

powerful gift given to us by the Holy Spirit. This is one of God’s gifts to his Church. During a Healing Mass we

invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts in order that a healing may take place. In addition to the Anointing of the

Sick, special prayers will be offered for those in need of any type of healing.

There will be an informal reception with refreshments served immediately following Mass.

Eucharistic Minister/Lector Meeting—10/18/17

There will be a meeting for Eucharistic Ministers

and Lectors on Wednesday, 10/18 at 6:30pm in

Andre Hall. Please plan on attending as

Fr. Carlos will be speaking to us.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK Pope Francis constantly reminds us of the wideness of God's

mercy and its unconditional character. God is always patiently

loving his children and opening the doors to his heart. We

must, however, freely choose to accept God's invitation and

join in the feast of his love. We desire many things and we

have restless hearts. We often attempt to quench our desire with

things that are short-lived and shallow. All of us long to be sat-

isfied and at peace. How do we announce to the world, in ways

that are convincing and without judgment, that it is really God

whom we seek?

We have lost more Eucharistic Ministers…..

St. Charles is in desperate need of additional Eucha-ristic Ministers and Lectors! Please consider joining

this most rewarding ministry. Training is provided. Please call Pat Lawrence at 763-2260 x200.

AT THIS FALL FESTIVAL MEETING!! There will be a meeting of the Fall Festival committee on Thursday, November 2nd at 5:00 in the parish office meet-ing room. All are welcome to attend and give input as to how to make our festival better for 2018. Our goal is to find a way to in-spire parish members and school families to take the time to volunteer a few hours or more throughout the weekend. The 2017 festival was amazing; however, there were many areas needing improvement. That improvement will only be achieved if our committee is to grow larger and younger. We all work very hard in our day-to-day lives and still find the time to volunteer. We hope many more will feel this way and join our fun com-mittee. Thanks to all for all of your help and we look for-ward to many more years!

M I N I S T E R I O H I S P A N O DOMINGO 28 DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO LOS PEQUEÑOS DETALLES Los detalles decoran, iluminan y hacen grande cualquier obra.

nan día a día nuestra existencia.

Tu amigo,

Fr. Carlos
