New K-8 STEM Science Lab coming to St. Denis – St. Columba School As we anticipate the 50th Anniversary of St. Denis-St. Columba School next year, we would like give the gift of a fully-equipped Science lab to our students. This Grade K-8 lab program includes professional installation, a spiraling research-based Next Generation Science Standards curriculum, sturdy lab furniture, high-quality science equipment, large storage cabinets, teacher training, continuous professional support…and even lab coats for the students! The lab project will cost $100,000. While this seems challenging, the goal is within reach. A proud St. Denis-St. Columba alumnus, Mr. Harold Pontez, who shares our dream of a science lab at SDSC, has pledged $50,000 to make this lab a reality. Our school community now needs to commit to the remaining $50,000. The students at St. Denis-St. Columba have done their part already by raising over $25,000 from the Fall 2014 Walk-a-thon. The PSA Board voted to contribute $5000 toward the project, and the Altar Rosary Society has gifted us with $1000. We would like to find other generous supporters in our community to help us make it to the finish line. We are almost there! We already have $81,000 in our science lab fund. If you or anyone you know can help us to reach this goal, or you would like to learn more about the project, please feel free to call Sr. Kathleen Marie, CR at 845-227-7777. More information will be forthcoming about this exciting project. With the generous support of so many, we can give our school a gift worthy of its 50 Years of Academic Excellence!
