Dear Parishioners,
This is the Year of Faith as proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, October 11, 2012 to November 24, 2013, the solemnity of Christ The King. This year we are to renew our life-giving witness to Jesus and His Body, the Church, that is “always the same, yet the source of ever new light.” On October 11,
1962 the Second Vatican Council began and in 1992 the Catechism of the Catholic Church was
promulgated. Pope John XXIII named St. Joseph the Patron of the Second Vatican Council.
In this Golden Anniversary of the Council, two great parishes in the beautiful city of Dubuque are linked together: St. Columbkille and St. Joseph The Worker. In the Holy Gospel, Jesus
encourages strong and unwavering faith. He rebukes His Apostles for having “little faith” and demonstrates the glorious power of God for those who believe. We are called in this Year of Faith to renew our life in Jesus Christ and His Church:
♦ Belief in the Holy Trinity + Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
♦ Encounter the Paschal Mystery: Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus!
♦ Reflect on Jesus sending us the Holy Spirit, The Light of Faith!
♦ Deepen our knowledge and understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church!
♦ Read, reflect and pray with the Sacred Scriptures!
♦ Nourish and strengthen our faith through the Holy Eucharist!

On a March 29 visit to the Holy Face of Jesus Church in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI told Parish Pastoral Council leaders, “The council is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and the pastor--and even the pope--needs advice, needs help in making decisions. And so these (parish) councils are also a work of the Holy Spirit and a witness to the Spirit’s presence in the church.”

Stewardship Committee Member Objective 6.1 We need five more parishioners to guide, assist and encourage overall stewardship of St. Columbkille Parish. Objective 6.2 Develop a structured program that generates information and promotes communication to aid in education of St. Columbkille Parish in freewill giving. This will focus on time, talent, and treasure to support the operations of the parish, special interests, and planned giving. Objective 6.3 Act as an advisory committee to the pastor and parish leaders: A. Collect up-to-date data and needs of parishioners. B. Meet quarterly with ministry coordinators to assess individual ministry need. Objective 6.4 Create a Stewardship newsletter to provide semi-annual feedback to all parishioners on all aspects of the parish’s stewardship efforts. Objective 6.5 To evaluate stewardship on a regular basis to ensure it’s viability.

St. Columbkille has been blessed to keep Catholic Education a top priority. Here, Catholic parents find their greatest support to help in the life-long spiritual growth of their children. St. Columbkille subsidity: $ 709,675. St. Joseph The Worker: $777,422.
It is a worthy sacrifice for parents and the parish to provide Catholic Education. For each child, Elementary tuition is $ 2525 with an additional $ 3918 from the parish.
Mazzuchelli Middle School tuition is $2865 with an additional $ 3219 from the parish.

increase engagement, help, and support in our neighborhoods!
