Study Ques on for the week: In James chapter 2, why can’t faith be separated from

works?

Last week’s answer: What is at stake when we shown par ality to some-

one or some group?

When we show par ality to a person or group, we are shu ng off opportuni es for others to be blessed or for us to be blessed through others. It also results in not le ng the Lord’s face (love for them) to be seen through me. This makes me a false witness to my faith. What a joy it would be to see as Jesus does when it comes to our sisters and broth-ers.

SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN Did You Know?

Shopping mall safety ps

It’s easy for kids to get sidetracked with all the sights, sounds, and smells surrounding us at holiday me. It is especially important to monitor your children when taking them through the mall during the Christmas season. If children become separated from you, teach them to look for a “safe stranger” who can help them. For example, a mom with kids or the cash register per-son can help a child who is lost. Avoid telling children to go to the “manager.” Any adult in a suit, who looks important, can look like the manager to a child. Chil-dren must be told never to leave the mall or store to go looking for you in the parking lot. Let them know that you would never go outside or leave un l you are reunited -- no ma er what anyone else tells them.

YOUTH DAY (March 12, 2015) Congress opens on Thursday with a day-long event for high school youth. This is an opportunity for students – not only from the Los Angeles Archdiocese but throughout California and the western states – to come together and share in Liturgy, workshops, enter-tainment and to experience the energy of a Youth Day Rally.

Please remember to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the coming year so that together we can con-

nue to bring comfort and peace to our brothers and sisters who are suffering.
