Green Tip Please make the "three Rs" a top priority in 2009---REDUCE waste by RE-USING items as much as possible before discarding, and RECYCLE metal cans, paper, plastic, cardboard and glass. Let's help eradicate landfills from God's Creation!
Wonderful Educational Opportunity... On behalf of the parish priests, you are invited to participate in a wonderful educational opportunity we’re offering at the end of January at St. David’s—the Adult Inquirer’s Class. Taught by the clerics, this Sunday school class will be devoted to preparing adults for confirmation or reception into the Episcopal Church. In this class, you will learn:
the history of the Episcopal Church, about our worship, with emphasis on The Book of
Common Prayer, about the Anglican approach to Holy Scripture, and the structure and workings of the Episcopal
Church.
There will be plenty of time for questions, answers, and good discussion. The Inquirer’s Class will be offered at St. David’s on Sunday mornings at 10:15, from January 18 through May 3, in the Parish Hall. This class will be held on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of each month. The 4th Sunday of each month will be the Rector’s Forum. We will also offer a parallel class on our Wonder-full Wednesday evenings at 6:30, January 21 through April 29, in the Mercy Classroom (downstairs, Jeffords Fellowship Hall). The Bishop will be at St. David’s to confirm or receive all those who have completed the course requirements at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. We look forward to a continued relationship shared in the love of our risen Lord Jesus Christ!

To our wonderful parishioners… St. David's is a parish of faithful and generous people. Rarely is that trait more evident than during Advent and Christmastide. The staff and clergy were the happy recipients of a myriad of baked goodies, cards and other holiday treats from thoughtful parishioners. We offer our thanks for their generosity and kindness and wish each and all a blessed Epiphany season.

Ital ian Pi lgrimage May 2009 Dr. Stan Beecham of St. David’s will be leading a pilgrimage this spring to Italy. The Pilgrimage will begin and end in Rome, where we will spend three days touring the city. We will walk from Rieti to Assisi, covering 100 miles over seven days. The group will trace the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi (Cammino di San Francesco) as we tour the many villages St. Francis visited during his ministry in the early 1200’s. Once in Assisi, we will spend three days there, visiting the many historic sites in the area. The group will fly directly from Atlanta to Rome, leaving on May 2nd and returning May 15th. The cost of the trip is estimated at $3800; includes all travel and lodging. The group is limited to 12. For more information call Dr. Beecham at 770-262-5556 or email: [email protected].
St. David’s is participating in an Eucumenical build for Habitat of Humanity of N. Fulton County with approximately 9 other area churches. CHILDREN MINISTRIES
Rotat ion Sunday School From Jan. 11 – Feb. 1 our older children will be studying the Beatitudes as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. These verses carry meaning for all Christians at many different levels. Our children will have the opportunity to find out what the Beatitudes mean to them. They will memorize them with the aid of a game, a balloon release. They will help comfort those who mourn a loss in our own church community as well as act out stories that help us understand why Jesus called these people blessed. Each child will videotape their favorite Beatitude and the reason they like it. The Beatitudes are all hard for us to understand. Talk to your child about what they find of value in the Beatitudes. We hope to move into our new classrooms later this month. Look in the bulletin or at our bulletin board for directions to our new space.
Epiphany Celebrat ion Thank you’s Susie Clements, Director of Children’s Music, and I want to thank all of the children who shared their talents with us, the parents for getting them here, and those who helped the children find costumes and get dressed on this past Saturday during dress rehearsal of the Epiphany Pageant, and on
Sunday, prior to the celebration service. A special thank you goes to RaeAnn Greenough who has been faithfully putting together new costumes for us this year, and to Dick Lord who helped us with our sound needs; so that our children, who had learned their lines so faithfully, could be heard by all of us. And of course, we want to thank our wonderful cast for their part in telling the story of Jesus’ birth: Mary – Jessica Bonin, Joseph – Jacob Sutton, Baby Jesus – Lillian Hays Weiss, Angel Gabriel – Lola Fayemi, Joseph’s Angel – Tori Coleman, Innkeeper(s) – Michael Springer, Innkeeper’s wife – Alex Williams, Shepherd’s Angel – Katie Pearson, Shepherds – Matthew Wilburn, Casadarius Anderson, Herod – Will Bruggeman, Magi – Kyle Benton, Juliette Stagnaro, Marsalis Anderson, Star of the East - Isabel Jacob; Prophet – Will Beecham; Narrators: CiGi Curry, James Andrew. Thank-you, Ellen Mintzmyer Ass’t to the Rector for Children’s Ministries

2nd Sundays at Five
Come to Evensong on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Chapel Mass at 6:00 p.m. Come hear our wonderful St. David’s Choir!
EVENSONG is the most particularly Anglican service in all of Christian worship. Originating from the monastic hours, it consists of the distinctive parts of the ancient office of Vespers and Compline – the Magnificat , the canti-cle appointed for Vespers, the Nunc dimittis for Compliine. The choir traditionally offers certain portions so that our devotions may be enhanced by music, while the congregations joins in the hymn, the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. During the last century, Evensong as a service has emerged as a liturgy of rare and mystical beauty in which the Word is illuminated by music. It is sung regularly in many cathedrals and parish churches throughout the county, and daily in many places in England.
