Upcoming Events and Important Information

Hospitality Sunday Hospitality Sunday is January 20 after the 7:15 & 9:00 a.m. Masses. Come for free donuts and coffee in the parish hall. This is an opportunity to meet fellow parishioners. Please take the time to introduce yourself and your family to a parishioner or family that you do not know. The goal of Hospitality Sunday is to enjoy coffee and donuts with friends and also become familiar with other parishioners. We appreciate the Hospitality Committee who set up the event and the Men’s Club who pay for the donuts.

Friends & Fellowship The next free meal will be Sunday, February 10th, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Men’s Club will prepare the meal. This meal is for anyone in our area who needs a free meal or just some company and fellowship. Thanks to our parish groups and Newark organizations who help us in this good cause, including the committee members.

An Invitation! St. Edward Women’s Club invites all women of the Parish to its next meeting to be held Monday, January 21, 2019, in the hall, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Maria Malinao will give an orientation on The Soul of a Disciple Series. It is an integrated course intended to lead us into a renewed understanding of a woman’s dignity and worth and response to God's call to us as Catholic Christians.

Holiday The Parish Office and Faith Formation, will be closed on Monday, January 21st, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Presentation of the Lord Saturday, February 2nd is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The Blessing of Candles takes place on that day. If you have candles you use for prayer at home, bring them to the church to be blessed or you can buy them at the parish office. The blessing of the candles will be during the 9:00 a.m. Mass only.

Blessing of the Throat

Sunday, February 3rd, would be the Feast of St. Blasé. We will have a general blessing of the throats during the Sunday Masses.

Drivers For Survivors is a non-profit organization that pro-vides free transportation service and supportive compan-ionship for ambulatory cancer patients who live in the Central and South Alameda County areas (Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Ashland, and Cherryland). Queremos invitar a las familias que gusten llevar la imagen de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe a su casa. La idea es que la puedan tener por una semana, en donde po-drán pedir por sus necesidades y las vocaciones religiosas y sobre todo rezar el Rosario en familia. Acuérdense que “La Familia que reza unida, permanece unida”. La imagen la pue-den devolver el Sábado siguiente antes de la Misa, así la próxi-ma familia puede llevarla a su casa.
