18th Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ Decimo Octavo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Words from our Pastor Unas palabras de nuestro Pastor

XVIII of Ordinary time

Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Blessing from God our Father in Jesus his Son by the Holy Spirit. This weekend has reminded me of those difficult moments during the Mission in the Peruvian highlands, where we visited the communities only twice a year, because there are no priests and the com-munities are very distant from each other. Brothers and sisters who feel the need to join Jesus because they re-ceive tremendous tranquility and peace in their times of tribulation. And that just by having the opportunity to receive Jesus twice a year, they make an immense sac-rifice to leave their homes, their jobs and carry their entire family to join the community in prayer and par-ticipate in the encounter with Christ. Just as in those distant places, in Jesus' time people came to his pres-ence from many places in Galilee, walking many miles to see and hear Jesus. We are very graceful, we are very blessed that we can gather in his name to receive food from the angels at the altar table, food that strengthens our weaknesses and for the journey.

Let us pray to God that little by little our faith commu-nities will recover, in such a way that united to Jesus, all our sick people recover their health, that those who are desperate for the pandemic, find in the word of God that strength that encourages and strengthens to contin-ue walking fully in trust with God. And those of us who have the happiness of receiving it in our hands understand the wonderful miracle of love, that we re-cover our hunger for faith and hope. So that neither hunger, nor illness, nor pandemic, nor lack, nor afflic-tion can separate us from Christ, but keep us together with Jesus, because if we are united with Him we will never be hungry, because he who is with Jesus will al-ways have everything in the love and generosity of the Lord.

Readings for the Week of August 02, 2020

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of

your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Prayer To Overcome Racism

Oración Para Superar el Racismo

Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has found a way to unite himself to every hu-man being, called to be one people, sisters and brothers to each other. We ask for your help in call-ing on your Son, seeking forgiveness for the times when we have failed to love and respect one anoth-er. We ask for your help in obtaining from your Son the grace we need to overcome the evil of racism and to build a just society. We ask for your help in following your Son, so that prejudice and animosity will no longer infect our minds or hearts but will be replaced with a love that respects the dignity of each person. Mother of the Church, the Spirit of your Son Jesus warms our hearts: pray for us. Amen.
