Views from Fr. Larry Pichard, Pastor

Fr. Zach will be returning from his Holy Land Pilgrimage and back in the office January 7.

About 380 children in our Faith Formation program will be celebrating for the first time the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Thursday night and Friday night in the Church. We will still have our regular Thursday evening Confessions in the Chapel from 6:00-7:00. But at 7:00 we priests must depart the Chapel; if some people are still waiting in line in the Chapel, we will ask them to proceed to the Church, but they should wait till the children have received the sacrament first.

On Tuesday night we will return to our custom of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist, beginning at 7:00 pm and concluding at 9:00 pm. All are welcomed to come and spend as much time as they like with the Lord.

Although most people in our culture long ago put away their Christmas tree, lights, and other decorations and merchants are already gearing up for Valentine’s Day, the Church stubbornly continues to celebrate the Christmas season till next Sunday, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord Jesus. Even though Jesus was baptized when he was about 30 years old, his baptism was seen as a part of the Epiphany season. The word epiphany means manifestation or revelation, and at his baptism, he was revealed as the Son of the Father and the temple of the Holy Spirit.
