The statement lists the amount paid for childcare during the 2015 year. Congratulations to Nick Villazon for receiving first place recognition in the 17 th annual Youth Apostles Prolife Poster Contest! Nick and four hundred participants submitted entries with the theme “Precious in God’s Eyes.” Nick’s entry evidenced not only creativity and artistic talent, but also an understanding and appreciation of prolife values. Grade 8 student, Victoria Alley will represent St. Francis School in the Diocesan Spelling Bee. Alternates include: Christopher Domingos- Kioza, Nathaniel Kintz, and Michael Ackiss. FINANCE NEWS:

Your end of year St. Clare Extended Daycare Statement was mailed out today to your family address on file. The statement lists the amount paid for childcare during the 2015 year.

Congratulations to Nick Villazon for receiving first place recognition in the 17th annual Youth Apostles Prolife Poster Contest! Re-registration forms went home January 4th and were due back to the school office today, January 19th. We have attached the registration form to this newsletter. If we do not receive your re-registration form by tomorrow, January 20th, we cannot guarantee a spot for your child for the 2016-2017 school year. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

SPORTS NEWS:

Basketball: results of games for January 16th & 17th

4th boys: won over St. Joseph 25 - 17 5th boys: lost to St. Thomas More 14 - 32 5th girls: won over Queen of Apostle 21 - 20 6th boys: won over St. James 35 - 18 7th girls: won over Nativity 20 - 16 7th boys: lost to All Saints 20 - 36 8th boys: No game scheduled SPORTS PICTURES: Sports pictures have been cancelled for Wednesday, January 20th. New date to be determined.

GRACE COMMITTEE:

The Grace committee volunteers provide meals for school families with a loss, health issue, and/or other needs. If you would like to be part of the Grace Committee and volunteer to help provide a meal or part of a meal for families in need, please contact Sheila Noble at [email protected].

USED BOOK SALE:

The PTO is requesting donations of gently read books for our next used book sale being held the week of February 1st. Thank you for your generosity that has made our previous used book sales so successful.

CUB SCOUT NEWS: St. Francis’ Cub Scout Pack 1385 will be holding their 3rd annual Undie Sunday to collect mens and/or womens underwear (new-still in the unopened package please). Boxes will be located in the vestibule for your generous contributions of these items (underwear, thermals, t-shirts, socks, etc.) on Scout Sunday, February 7, 2016. These clothing items will be delivered to those in need at the Bill Mehr Drop-In Shelter.

SCIENCE FAIR

The St. Jude Math-A-Thon® begins next week on

Monday, January 25th

Students are encouraged to complete the math workbooks that will be distributed and collect donations to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Donations, made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, may be submitted to

Ms. Rayhel in the library until March 18th. We appreciate your continued support of this wonderful program.

Sweet Friday is January 22nd! Our next Sweet Friday is themed Winter Wonderland! Volunteers who love to bake are called upon to donate cupcakes, cookies or brownies each month — let’s see what creative wintry confections you can whip up!
