When Our Lady asked Richeldis de Feverches to build a replica of the Holy House of the Annunciation, she wanted this as a memorial of the great joy of that moment. The great joy that Mary speaks about is the joy foundin saying “yes” to the will of God for us. It is also the immense joy we find when, like Mary in that house in Nazareth, we are in the presence of Jesus. One of the important questions we need to ask ourselves individually and collectively is whether we are experiencing this holy joy. Are we fullfilling the will of God for us in our daily lives, and are we preparing ourselves fully to be in the presence of Jesus when we meet him in the Mass? Before the Reformation, Walsingham became one of the great- est and best known shrines in Christendom. This Tuesday, to keep this special feast, why not pray the Angelus at Noon? Pray, O holy Mother of God for the conversion of England, restoration of the sick, consolation for the afflicted, repen- tance of sinners, peace to the departed. O Blessed Mary, Mother of God, Our Lady of Walsingham, intercede for us. Amen.
