with a note attached asking for a donation for his charity. At the

bottom of his note was a request for that person to give him the

name and address of the next person’s lawn where the sheep

should be placed. He continued this process for several weeks.

Zane raised $240 and donated it to Patty Williams, a local woman

JOKE– A little girl asked her mother, “Where did

people come from?” Her mother answered, “God

made Adam and Eve and they had children, and that’s

how all mankind was made.” A couple of days later

she asked her father the same question. The father

answered, “Many years ago there were monkeys, which the

human race evolved from.” The confused little girl returned to

her mother and said, “Mommy, how is it possible that you told me

we were created by God, and Daddy said we came from

monkeys?” The mother answered, “Well, dear, it is very simple.

I told you about my side of the family and your father told you

about his.”

SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

FR. BILL’S NOTES-

My Dearest Brothers and Sisters in the Risen Lord,

All-day adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament will take place this Sunday, May 17th, from the conclusion of the 10:30 A.M.

Holy Mass until the Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 8:30 P.M. A partial indulgence (which can reduce one’s purification

needed upon one’s soul in Purgatory) may be gained by spending at least a few minutes adoring the Lord in the Exposed Blessed

Eucharist during this time. A plenary indulgence (which can completely purify one’s soul of any temporal punishment due to sin upon

one’s soul in Purgatory) may be gained by spending at least one half-hour adoring the Lord in the Exposed Blessed Eucharist during this

time. God becomes lonely if we don’t come to the Church to adore Him so please try to spend some time with Our Lord Who gives to us

everything we need. A good leader should lead by example; therefore, I will spend my Holy Hour adoring the Lord from 7:30 until 8:30

P.M. I hope that a Priest who is a friend of mine by the name of Father Dennis Dinan will be praying with me during that Holy Hour.

Father Dennis is the Pastor of Saint Joseph’s Church in New Windsor in Orange County Deanery. It will be an honor having him praying

along side of me.

This Monday, May 18th, at 6:00 P.M. in the Church Hall, we will be hosting the Saugerties Area Council of Churches Monthly

Meeting. I want to express my gratitude to the folks who will be taking care of the dinner for us. After the dinner, the actual business

portion of the meeting will be in the Chapel. Please pray for repose of the soul of Reverend Hugh Whitaker, a long-time Lutheran Pastor

at Atonement Lutheran Church in the Village of Saugerties, who passed on to God in the last two weeks at the age of ninety.

Next weekend features Pentecost Sunday, the fiftieth and last day of the Easter Season. The word Pentecost means “Fiftieth

Day” and it was on the Jewish harvest feast of Pentecost that God the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles, the Blessed Mo ther

Mary, and the rest of the disciples or about 120 persons in all in the Upper Room. It takes on a Christian significance since it occurred 50

days after the Resurrection of the Lord on Easter Sunday.

A week from Monday, May 25th, will be Memorial Day. I will write to you more about Pentecost and Memorial Day in next

week’s letter. I will also write to you in next week’s letter how Junk in the Trunk went that we had this past Saturday, May 16th, in our

Parking Lot. Our next Junk in the Trunk will be Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.

We sold out all 250 Pro-Life roses on Mother’s Day weekend; we will probably order 300 Pro-Life Roses next year. I wish to

thank all those involved with the Pro-Life Rose Sale. I will continue to pray in the infinite momentos of the Holy Masses offered in May,

the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Motherhood, for all those mothers intended to be given to me whether they are living or

deceased.

The Closing Holy Mass for our Parish’s Religious Education Program, which was last Monday evening, May 11 th, went well. I

want to thank anyone and everyone involved with that Holy Mass and reception afterwards. Please pray for the children and their

families that they will persevere in the practice of the Catholic Faith.

We are going to have a Ladies’ Social on Sunday, June 7th, at 2:00 P.M., in the Church Hall; all ladies of the Parish are most

welcome so please save the date. I wish to thank Judy Defino who is spearheading this event.

Last, but not least, the Strategic Pastoral Planning or Making All Things New has recently featured phase two of two phases of

Parish Mergers; 31 additional Parishes will become 14 Parishes. May I ask you to thank God that Ulster County was not affected by

phase two. However, I ask you to pray for the members of these merged parishes as well as the 112 that were merged into 55 in

November, 2014. So, 368 Parishes will become 296 Parishes by August 1st and those merged Parishes may have new Priestly leadership

by July 1st. I will continue to update you as we move ahead with Making All Things New. I impart my blessing upon you.

Sincerely, with prayers,

Father Bill Woodruff

P.S.: We have never been affected so thank God, please!

PRAYER FOR LIFE

Jesus, Mary and Joseph we love you very much.

Help us spiritually adopt and protect all human life

from preborn to natural death.

Amen.

MAKING ALL THINGS NEW

God our Father, through the Gospel and the Eucharist,

You bring us together as Your Church in the

Archdiocese of New York.

Send us Your Holy Spirit, to enlighten our minds and guide our

actions as we plan for the future of parish life in this Archdiocese.

Help us learn new ways to strengthen and revitalize our parish

communities, and to be good stewards of the spiritual and

material gifts that sustain them.

Bless our work, so that our parishes may continue to witness to

the truth of the Gospel, and be a sign of Your love for all people.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER

For the last three Sundays, we have been hearing Jesus’

farewell discourse before He ascends into heaven. This Sunday,

Jesus concludes with a conversation with the Father where He

petitions on behalf of His followers. In His words, Jesus’ love for

His disciples, then as well as now, shines forth. There is a sense

that now we are all truly one with Him. We are consecrated in

truth, as He is consecrated as the truth.

Jesus commands us to love. We are to love God and

each other. These are simple commands that are so hard to

follow.

But do we not attest to the fact that God is love? How

can we truly explain or understand the depths of love without

knowledge of God? So, when we give love to someone, we are

giving a glimpse of God to that person.

When we love God, we are giving back to Him a

glimpse of Himself since we are created in His image. A world

without love is a world without God!

Before this Easter season ends, resolve to love more.

The world needs more love. Through the act of loving, may it

come to know God in a more profound way.
