Happy Easter,
As we celebrate the new life and joy of Easter that Christ offers through His
Resurrection may we always know that God is with us. That whether it be a
time of celebration or in the challenges, temptations, and even sins of tomorrow
we know that He is with us, always seeking to bring us to life. So let us be open
to the Easter Blessing that concludes our Mass on this Easter day:
May almighty God bless you
through today’s Easter Solemnity
and, in His compassion,
defend you from every assault of sin.
And may He, who restores you to eternal life
in the Resurrection of His Only Begotten,
endow you with the prize of immortality.
Now that the days of the Lord’s Passion have drawn to a close,
may you who celebrate the gladness of the Paschal Feast
come with Christ’s help , and exulting in spirit,
to those feasts that are celebrated in eternal joy.
Peace and Joy,
Fr. Nick
Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 21, 2019
Easter changes everything.
Having been raised from the dead, Jesus shatters the frightful images that haunt hu-
manity. Betrayal, torture, crucifixion, death, burial--these terrors pale in the bril-
liant glory of Jesus resurrected. Today’s psalm guides our response to God’s pow-
er: it is wonderful in our eyes. Today is indeed a day for wonder, for gasping in
astonishment at Jesus resurrection. For all of
human history, death had been final. In the
Acts of the Apostles, though, Peter testifies
that Jesus, who was publicly executed, was
raised to life by God. John’s Gospel admits
that the disciples did not yet understand the
Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
Even Jesus closest friends were not expecting this innovation: life after death. In response
to the Easter miracle, Paul tells us to become
a fresh batch of dough. Everything, even our
very selves, must become new. Easter chang-
es everything.

Eucharistic
Adoration
Monday through Thursday following
morning Mass until 12 pm Mass
A priest once said, "When we are in the
presence of the Blessed Sacrament, we are
in heaven on earth." Every moment that
we spend in Eucharistic Adoration will
leave our souls everlastingly more glorious
and beautiful in heaven. Even if you can-
not pray very well, or even if you do not
say anything at all, the mere fact that you
come to him is a prayer of faith .

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION UPDATE
Alleluia, Jesus has risen! Easter is just too big to be contained in one day or
one week, so over the next 50 days the Church will be celebrating Easter. The
priests and deacons will be wearing white vestments, we will return to saying
Alleluia, and the first readings will only be from Acts of the Apostles. The book of
Acts of the Apostles is all about the
actions of the Apostles during the
first days of the Church. In the eighth
grade they began their study of Church History with the Acts of the
Apostles. The events of the first days
of the Church are exciting and help
all of us to see the roots of our
Catholic heritage. Enjoy the next 50
days of celebration for because of
Easter we too will see resurrection!
See everyone back next week at PSR.

Catholic Teach-In
on Migration:
Creating a Culture of Encounter
A change of attitude towards migrants and refugees is needed on the
part of everyone, moving away from attitudes of defensiveness and
fear, indifference and marginalization—all typical of a throwaway cul-
ture—towards attitudes based on a culture of encounter, the only cul-
ture capable of building a better, more just and fraternal world. - Pope
Francis, World Day of Migrants and Refugees, 2017
Come join us in learning from others’ experiences and the
Church’s teaching about the rights of refugees and asylum seek-
ers. The Teach-In will include personal testimonies from immi-
grants and small group discussions.

Treasures from our Tradition
Over the centuries, the Church has demonstrated a wonderful ability to adopt a culture’s favorite symbols
and customs and assign them new meaning. Easter eggs have a very ancient pedigree: nature’s perfect pack-
age, emblem of new life, dyed and decorated and given as gifts in ancient Egypt, Rome, China, and Persia.
Just as the long hard winter is over, the egg bursts with promise of life and nourishment. Long ago, Chris-
tians came to see the egg not as a symbol of spring’s rebirth, but of ours,
and as a sign of Christ’s tomb. A Polish legend says that Mary, in com-
passion for the soldiers at the cross, gave them eggs, but that her tears
stained their shells with brilliant color. Legends have their origin in tales
told around a hearth, but they often contain a profound truth. The idea
of Mary, the first Christian, engaged in a merciful act of forgiveness and
tenderness even in the shadow of the cross, describes the age-old wish
that Christ “Easter in us.”
