From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

    through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

    STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

3rd Sunday of Easter: “Peter was distressed that Jesus had said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’” (John 21:17). All of us are challenged to show our love for Jesus by “feeding His sheep.” Through prayer ask God how you should best use your time, talent and treasure to assist those who are in need. Remember that giving is an act of worship and helps advance the mission of our parish and greater Church.

3rd Sunday of Easter Presider......................................... Fr. Bill Thomas Assisting ........................................ Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planner .............................. Nimfa & Jack Simpson Music Director ............................... Teesie Chandler Interpreter for the Deaf .................. Susan Fraker Acts 5:27b-32, 40b-41: Peter proclaims that Jesus was raised from the dead and exalted to the right hand of God. After a council member suggests adopting a wait-and-see attitude, the apostles are again released and rejoice to have suffered in Jesus’ name. Jesus’ name has profound power; it is teaching in his name that gets the disciples into trouble. The Sanhedrin recognizes the power of the name and orders that it not be spoken.

Revelations 5:11-14: Today’s passage follows upon John’s vision of the Lamb who has been slaughtered but found worthy to open the scroll of God. At first John had thought that no one could be worthy of such an honor, but he is told that the descendant of Judah has already conquered and is worthy. Opening the scroll will inaugurate an era of tribulation, but in the end the righteous will triumph.

John 21:1-19: The central story of the passage is the poignant conversation between Jesus and Peter. Just as Peter had three times denied Jesus, so Peter is now asked to affirm his love for Jesus three times. Each time Peter proclaims his love for Jesus, Jesus gives him a commission. Peter is to care for Jesus’ “sheep,” clearly members of the Christian community, those who are committed to proclaiming the risen Lord.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

Funds from this collection help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and Christ’s love and respect to all people. A ‘REAL LIFE’ STORY - There is a facility in Kenya, Africa, supported by Catholic Relief Services, where a group of dedicated sisters work with developmentally delayed and malnourished children. They also teach parents about child nutrition, feeding, and early and effective communication. Working with local partners like these sisters in 101 countries, CRS serves more than 100 million people with life-changing support. CRS couldn’t do it without people like you. Please give generously to and help Jesus in disguise. There is a box in the vestibule for your donations. Make checks payable to QAC with CRS on the memo line.

CONGRATULATIONS - LIFETIME OF BLESSINGS: Charlotte Repasy & Ryan Repasy were received in to the church with Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. Special blessings, too, to their parents (Greg & Sara Repasy), their godparents for baptism (Janet McDonough & Stephen Hodges), sponsor for Confirmation (Joan Ivory), and Maggie Atkinson who traveled with them through the RCIA process.

Curtain construction will be easy (no snaps to sew this time). Fabric, cutting board, rulers, rotary cutters, thread, and directions furnished. We need people to cut fabric and to press fabric during construction. And we need people who like to sew to bring their sewing or serger machine(s). We can even teach you to machine sew if you like. Pins and good fabric shears (scissors that have not cut paper, plastic, wire, etc.) will come in handy too. Please contact Marti Quakenbush if you can [email protected] or 937-429-9224.

the QAC Team Captain. Our QAC family has generously supported this event as sponsors and participants in the past. Please e-mail Nimfa, [email protected] if you have questions on participation as a runner/walker and/or sponsor.

URGENT SPECIAL REQUESTS from THE HANGARTNERS: 1) As we are preparing for the next 4-month trip to Malawi from early May to end of August, we are in great need of two or three used laptop computers for the college students we are supporting. Life as a college student without a computer is miserable, even in Malawi!

    2) We would also like to ask the hobby photographers in the community to donate some culturally neutral pictures for the beautification of the hospital once it is renovated. We are thinking of pictures of nature, animals, children...in color or black and white. The size should be one of the standard photography sizes, like 8x8; 8x10; 8.5x11; 9x16; 11x14, etc., so that we can find frames for the pictures that do not cost an arm and a leg. With many thanks...Elisabeth & Thomas

BOOKS FOR ‘PROJECT READ’: We (QAC) are collecting gently used books for school aged children (pre-school to third grade) at Ruskin School. Maria Rivera will distribute these to her classes at Ruskin at the end of the school year for their summer reading. Please bring to the chapel vestibule marked for Maria. Thank you.

FROM CHUCK BAUER: Friday, Apr 29th, 7:00 PM. Movie, desert, popcorn and conversation night at Si Lounge. I will be discussing with you what movies you would want me to show. I am actually thinking of trying to set up two movies one in the main area and a second in the family room. Signups and your contributions will be taken after Mass, Apr 17th & 24th. The ground flowers and flowering trees should be in full bloom at that time. Come early and wonder the grounds of Mt St. John.

ST. VINCENT DONATIONS: Bring any useable clothing to the chapel vestibule any Sunday or drop off in marked cabinets in the hallway near the Teen Room outside Si Lounge. April request: Canned fruits (all kinds) packed in fruit juice (no heavy syrup or added sugars, please). Contact Margie/Tom Hudnell, [email protected], or 429-0320.

Quiet time for personal reflection and application will be paramount, interspersed with some group sessions. Retreat guide is Anthony Franchina who has an M.A. in Italian language and literature. Meals provided and overnight accommodation at Bergamo available. Register online at www.eventbrite.com/e/divine-comedy-contemplative-retreat-ii-tickets-23234755780.

FAVORITE QUOTES: "Force yourself, if necessary, always to forgive those who offend you, from the very first moment. For the greatest injury or offense you can suffer from them is nothing compared to what God has forgiven you." ~ St. Josemaria Escriva

"Do not look for the faults of your friend. Do not repeat the shortcomings of your neighbors in your talk. You are not the judge of creation. You do not have dominion over the earth. If you love righteousness, admonish your soul and yourself. Be the judge of your own sins, and chastise your own transgressions." ~ St. Ephrem the Syrian
