Pope Francis Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. Meekness is yet another expression of the interior poverty of those who put their trust in God alone. Indeed, in the Bible the same word – anawim – usually refers both to the poor and to the meek. Someone might object: “If I am that meek, they will think that I am an idiot, a fool or a weakling”. At times they may, but so be it. It is always better to be meek, for then our deepest desires will be fulfilled. The meek “shall inherit the earth”, for they will see God’s promises accomplished in their lives. In every situation, the meek put their hope in the Lord, and those who hope for him shall possess the land… and enjoy the fullness of peace . For his part, the Lord trusts in them: “This is the one to whom I will look, to the humble and contrite in spirit, who trembles at my word”. «Felices los mansos, porque heredarán la tierra» La mansedumbre es otra expresión de la pobreza interior, de quien deposita su confianza solo en Dios. We have some exciting news! The program is up and running with a new executive director, case manager, Day

Center, and families. St. Thomas (and support site St. Jude) will be hosting homeless families, starting Sunday, June 16 through Sunday, June 23. We will rotate the sign-up sheet between the two churches this weekend and next weekend, and hope to fill all our slots. Opportunities for helping are cooking and/or serving a meal, being an activities host playing with the kids (or just chatting with the parents), van driving, and overnight host. Our ultimate goal is to be hospitable by helping families feel welcome, safe, and comfortable, and we are very good at that! We would like to add some new volunteers (this can include groups of friends, families, students, couples, etc.), so we invite you to call to ask questions, or seek out another volunteer to ask them what the week is all about. Adult Grief Support Group Details:

Beloit Regional Hospice will be hosting a grief support group for any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. This group begins: Monday, June 10th and will meet each Monday through June 24th at the Beloit Regional Hospice offices, 655 Third Street, Suite 200 in Beloit. The group will meet from 9:00am - 10:00am. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration for the group is requested. Walk-ins are welcome for the first two sessions. Concert thanks – Thank you to all who participated in the concert at St. Thomas Church on June 1. Thanks to the musicians who gave of their time and talents, to all who assisted in organizing the event, and to all who came to the concert. Over $1,900.00 was raised to benefit research on pancreatic cancer.
