All Prayers Are Answered

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus heals miraculously. We’ve also noticed that He grants requests and/or an-swers questions to all sorts of things. But if we look closely, here lately, when He answers and/or grants their requests, it comes not with a condition, but more of a recognizing of our role in His mission. There is always something for us to do in thanksgiving of that gift. Whether He’s addressing divorce and marriage, embrac-ing children and using them as examples or welcoming the wealthy, there is always a new challenge.

Today’s Gospel is no different; the request is to see. Whether we’re blind, rich, ambitious, Jesus welcomes the opportunity to pray to Him. That’s what it is, pray-ing for ourselves. Whether we’re confused about what divorce implies or our role as His followers, most of the time we are not comfortable praying for ourselves. The blind man today knew better. When he asks Jesus to have pity and heal him, Jesus asks “What do you want Me to do?” He asks it of each of us. Healing happens because we desire it, we want it to, sincerely. Healing happens because we ask for it. Healing happens because we name it, our needs. Healing happens because we trust that God cares for each of us.

After the healing happens, the miracle is that it gives us the power for the first time to start doing our part.

Deacon Corney

A Stewardship Prayer

Jesus, I give my whole life to You, I thank You for creating me, dying for me, and rising for me.

Please give me a spirit of service and love so I can pour out myself for others as You did for me.

In gratitude, I offer myself to You, asking for the grace to keep You first in my heart.

Help me to use everything You have given me to serve You, my parish, and all those around me. Amen St. Justin, pray for us!

Vocation Brief

All too often we forget to express appreciation to those in service-oriented jobs, including priests, sisters and brothers. We forget because we think, “It’s their job to help.” Priests and religious aren’t superhuman. They need genuine support from those they serve. Let them know how you feel.

Our next meeting is November 5 at 7:15 p.m. If you are interested in finding out more about or joining our wonderful organization please call Bette Breaz at 281-493-6855.

Bring up the Gifts at Mass One simple, but beautiful, way that the People of God participate in the Mass is by carrying the gifts of bread and wine to the altar. These gifts represent all that we are and have being laid on God’s table to be accepted, treasured, and transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. Any individuals, couple, or family are invited to bring up the gifts. Those who do so should be practic-ing Catholics, as they represent the whole community. If you’d like to be a part of this ministry at the parish Mass, just speak to one of the ushers. Don’t forget that this is a beautiful way to observe a wedding anniver-sary, birthday, or special day. Arrive a few minutes ear-ly and grab that usher!

Giving Thanks When You Shop Please be sure to thank the generous advertisers in our bulletin when you visit their business. Through their participation, our parish receives our weekly bulletin free of charge.
