Sacrament of Baptism—The sacrament of baptism for infants is administered on the 3RD weekend of the month. Parents should contact the parish office to set up an appointment for a baptism preparation class at least 1 month prior to the baptism. Parents must be registered parishioners or have a letter from their home parish with permission for the baptism to take place at a different church. Godparents must be practicing Catholics at least 16 years of age who have received the sacrament of confirmation and have a letter of good standing from the pastor of their home parish if they are not registered parishioners of St. Leo. A baptized Christian who is not Catholic may serve as a Christian witness to the baptism but not as a godparent. Sacrament of Marriage—A couple wishing to marry must contact the priest at least six months before setting the wedding date. The couple will be required to attend a marriage preparation course which will include at least one formal program such as an Engaged Encounter weekend or the Sponsor Couple Program. Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick—The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is celebrated upon request. Please notify the pastor or call the parish office if you know of anyone who might need this sacrament. Please inform the pastor or someone in the parish office if you or any of your family is in the hospital. Sacrament of Reconciliation—The sacrament of Reconciliation is available each Sunday from 10:15-10:45AM, Thursday 11:00-11:45AM or by calling the Parish Office for an appointment. Additional times are listed in the bulletin during Lent and Advent. Sacrament of Eucharist to the Homebound—Please notify the Parish Office if you or a family member is homebound and would like to receive the Eucharist. Parish Hall or Classroom Use—Use of the Parish Hall or classrooms for all meetings must be cleared through the Parish Office. All non-parish events such as showers, rehearsal dinners, wedding or anniversary receptions must be reserved 3 weeks before the event. The Diocese requires the purchase of an insurance policy covering the non-parish events.

NOVEMBER YOUNG AT HEART! The November Young At Heart gathering is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th at the Parish Hall. Everyone in the parish who is “young at heart”, an “empty nester”

or, just in need of fellowship, are welcome to join in on the monthly festivities. Smoked pulled pork, buns, BBQ sauce and beverages will be provided. Those who attend, are asked to bring a dessert and/or side dish. Mary Haney will be presenting a fun activity where some folks might win some money!!! Set up is at 11:00am, meal at Noon. Those of our “regulars”, are encouraged to “bring a friend” (or two). We had a GREAT turn out last time. Our “new comers” were quite impressed with the fun and fellowship experienced at our event. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK—NOVEMBER 4TH-10TH National Vocation Awareness Week is being celebrated November 2-10. This annual observance of the Catholic Church in the United States is designed to focus on vocations to the priesthood, religious life and diaconate. It is a time to encourage young people to ask themselves: “To what vocation in life is God calling me?” It is also an opportunity to bring awareness to and pray for those already in discernment of one of these vocations. Parishes and schools are encouraged to include, during the first week in November, prayer and special activities that focus on vocation awareness.

During National Vocation Awareness Week, we encourage all Catholics to:

Take time to pray for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Reflect on our own vocation and strengthen our personal relationship with Christ.

Participate in the CALLED BY NAME process

Invite and encourage young people to consider a vocation to priesthood or

religious life and to consider participating in our discernment opportunities Educate our young people about the importance of silent prayer and taking the

GOD’S LAWS God’s laws are not intended to burden or torment us. Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God's laws out of fear of what might happen if we don’t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

Just two years ago, we engaged in one of the core activities of our democratic system: a presidential election. Actually, the institution of election can be traced to traditions in the Church, and although bishops are no longer chosen in this way, abbots and abbesses (heads of monastic communities) have almost always been elected by full voting members of their communities. The lifetime appointment begins when the monks or nuns are gathered in “chapter” at the death or resignation of the abbot, and fortunately for all involved, campaigning is not allowed! The members of the community discern, with prayer to the Holy Spirit, who among them is the best suited for leadership. Once chosen, the new leader requests the blessing of the local bishop, who usually presides at a ceremony of consecration or investiture. The ballots are always secret, and a simple majority must be achieved. In our American system the Electoral College is the determining voice in the presidential election, not the popular election on a November Tuesday, just as the monastic chapter is the electorate. Today, most religious orders elect general superiors in “chapter” by delegates of the professed members, and usually for a term of six years. A few, like the Jesuits, elect for life.
