18th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 31, 2016 St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church

Dear Parishioners,

Thanks again to those of you who have responded to the call to pray for the safety of our police officers. I’ve been very pleased by the added number of parishioners who MADE TIME to pray in the adoration chapel for this very important cause. Even as August rolls around, I’d invite you all to consider spending an extra fifteen minutes to an

hour in the chapel. Heaven knows our country needs the prayers, and with a presi-dential election upcoming, we all need the peace that God gives us to navigate those controversial electoral and political waters! We now have seven candidates for the Parish Council election. Thanks to those

of you who responded by offering yourselves to serve the parish this way. Be on the

lookout in the community room/vestibule for pictures and brief biographies of each of

the candidates. The election will be in the middle of August.

Yes, it’s hard to believe but true just the same, July is now gone and August is

upon us. That always means hurricane season comes into high gear. The Archdiocese

has wisely insisted that parishes have safety and evacuation plans in place, with con-

tact information for people. I would recommend for each of you, as families, that you

have your own personal plans in place should you need to evacuate from your home in

St. Luke parish. I’m surely not saying we will HAVE to go, but it’s always better to be

prepared for situations ahead of time. If we can be of help to you in this matter, don’t

hesitate to contact us and me at the office or at church.

God bless you all,

Father Pat
