This past week we celebrated All Saints Day, that is, we rejoiced with all our older brothers and sisters in the faith, whether offi-cially canonized or not, who are in eternal glory. Even now, they are praying for us to join them in heaven when our life on earth is done. Heaven is our true home and should be our guiding principle in life. God created us to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this life, so we might possess Him forever in heaven. St. Paul said that we cannot even imagine how marvelous it will be: “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has prepared for those who love him.” Heaven is the greatest grace for which to pray and is worth giving up everything for, especially sin. Heaven is glory, where our bodies will be glo-rified, and where certain groups of the blessed will be glorified in a special way (apostles, martyrs, confessors, virgins, etc.) In heaven we shall contemplate the Beatific Vision of God in all his truth and beauty and goodness forever.
In his book, “Preparation for Death” St. Alphonsus de Ligouri, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, gives us a vision of what we have to look forward to after “this vale of tears.”: “In heaven the soul is certain that it loves God and that he embraces it as a be-lieved child and that this love will not be dis-solved for all eternity… Then also will the soul see all the graces which God has bestowed upon it in delivering it from so many tempta-tions and so many dangers of perdition; it will then understand that the tribulations, infirmi-ties, persecutions, and losses, which it called misfortunes and divine chastisements, were all love, all means intended by divine provi-dence to conduct it to heaven. It will see the patience of God in bearing with it after so many sins and the mercies he had shown it in giving it so many lights and invitations to his love… When the soul has entered into the
happy Kingdom of God there will be nothing to molest it. God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and death shall be no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away. And he that sat on the throne said: “Behold, I make all things new.” (Rev 21: 4f) In heaven there is no infirmity, no poverty, no distress… nor cold or heat, but a perpetual day always serene, an eternal spring always delightful… In that kingdom of love, all love one another tenderly; and each rejoices in the good of the other as if it were his own… There are no fears… everything gives conso-lation and content… The sight will be filled with delight in beholding this city of perfect beauty… And how splendid the appear-ance of these citizens, all clothed in royal robes… How delightful it must be to behold Mary who will appear more beautiful than all paradise! But what must it be to see the Lamb of God, the Heavenly Spouse , Jesus! St. Teresa had one transient glimpse of one of the hands of Jesus Christ and was struck senseless by its beauty… St. Francis once heard from an angel a single stroke on a vio-lin and almost died through joy. What then must it be to hear the whole choir of saints and angels chanting the glories of God… In a word, in Heaven are found all the delights which can be desired… When therefore, the crosses of this life afflict us, let us animate our-selves with the hope of Heaven to bear them patiently… Let us reflect that if we will be faithful to God, all these sorrows, miseries, and fears will one day have an end, and we shall be admitted into that blessed country, where we shall enjoy complete happiness as long as God will be God. Behold the saints are expecting us, Mary is expecting us, and Jesus stands with a crown in His hand, to make us kings in that eternal kingdom.” With prayers and friendship. Fr. Paul

Estimadas Familias y Amigos de Santa Margarita María,
La semana pasada celebramos el Día de Todos los Santos, es decir, nos regocijamos con todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas mayores en la fe, ya sean canonizados oficialmente o no, que están en la gloria eterna. Incluso ahora, están orando para que nos unamos a ellos en el cielo cuando nuestra vida en la tierra haya terminado. El cielo es nuestro verdadero hogar y debe ser nuestro principio rector en la vida.
Dios nos creó para conocerlo, amarlo y servirle en esta vida, para que podamos poseerlo para siempre en el cielo. San Pablo dijo que ni siquiera podemos imaginar lo maravilloso que será: "Ojo no ha visto, oído no ha escuchado lo que Dios ha preparado para aquellos que lo aman". El cielo es la gracia más grande por la cual vale la pena orar y ceder todo por el cielo, especialmente el pecado. El cielo es la gloria, donde nuestros cuerpos serán glorificados, y don-de ciertos grupos de los bendecidos serán glorifi-cados de una manera especial (apóstoles, márti-res, confesores, vírgenes, etc.) En el cielo contem-plaremos la Visión Beatífica de Dios en toda su verdad y belleza y bondad para siempre.
En su libro, "Preparación para la muerte", San Alfonso de Ligouri, obispo y doctor de la Iglesia, nos ofrece una visión de lo que debemos esperar después de "este valle de lágrimas": "En el cielo, el alma está segura" que ama a Dios y que lo abraza como a un hijo creído y que este amor no se disolverá por toda la eternidad ... Entonces también verá el alma todas las gracias que Dios le ha otorgado al librarlo de tantas tentaciones y tantos peligros de la perdición; entonces com-prenderá que las tribulaciones, las enfermedades, las persecuciones y las pérdidas, que denomina-ron desgracias y castigos divinos, fueron todo amor, todos los medios destinados por la divina providencia para conducirlo al cielo.
Verá la paciencia de Dios al soportarlo después de tantos pecados y las misericordias que le mostró al darle tantas luces e invitaciones a su amor ... Cuando el alma haya entrado en el feliz Reino de Dios, no habrá nada para molestarlo.
Dios enjugará toda lágrima de los ojos de ellos, y ya no habrá muerte, ni habrá luto, ni cla-mor, ni dolor; porque las primeras cosas pasaron. Y el que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: "He aquí, yo hago nuevas todas las cosas." (Ap. 21: 4f) En el cielo no hay enfermedad, ni pobreza, ni angustia ... ni frío ni calor, sino un día perpetuo siempre sereno, una primavera eterna siempre deliciosa ... En ese reino de amor, todos se aman tiernamente; y cada uno se regocija en el bien del otro como si fuera suyo ... No hay miedos ... todo da consuelo y satisfacción... La vista se llenará de deleite al contemplar esta ciudad de perfecta be-lleza ... Y cuán espléndida la apariencia de estos ciudadanos , todos vestidos con túnicas reales ... ¡Qué deleitable debe ser contemplar a María, que se verá más bella que todo el paraíso! ¡Pero qué se debe hacer para ver el Cordero de Dios, el Es-poso celestial y a Jesús! Santa Teresa tuvo una fugaz visión de una de las manos de Jesucristo y quedó sin sentido por su belleza... San Francisco alguna vez escuchó de un ángel un golpe de un violín y casi murió de alegría.
Entonces, ¿qué se debe hacer para escu-char todo el coro de santos y ángeles que cantan las glorias de Dios? ... En una palabra, en el Cielo se encuentran todas las delicias que se pueden desear... Cuando, por lo tanto, las cruces de esta vida nos afligen, animémonos nosotros mismos con la esperanza del Cielo de soportarlas pacien-temente ... Reflexionemos que si somos fieles a Dios, todos estos dolores, miserias y miedos al-gún día tendrán un final, y seremos admitidos en ese país bendito, donde gozará de completa felici-dad mientras Dios sea Dios.
He aquí que los santos nos están esperan-do, María nos está esperando y Jesús está con una corona en su mano para hacernos reyes en ese reino eterno”.

THIS WEEK IN SMM HISTORY November 6,1988 - Bishop Carl Fisher presid-ed at the Investiture Ceremony recognizing Fr. Joe Sartoris’ new title designation as Mon-signor. November 11, 1972 - The Sunday Mass schedule changed - the fifth time since the church opened in 1954 - to reflect the grow-ing needs of the parish. A Sunday evening Mass is included for the first time. New schedule: Saturday, 5pm, Sunday 7, 845 (youth choir), 10 (adult choir), 11:15 (Spanish), 12:15 and 5pm
As of October 24, 2017, 490 families have paid $113,757.00 to the 2017 Together In Mission Campaign, that means we have 87.6% of our parish goal of $129,800.00. With only 4 weeks to go in this year’s campaign we need $16,043.00 to meet our parish commitment. If you are one of the almost 1700 families who have not made a pledge yet, please prayerfully consider joining fellow parish-ioners in helping our parish meet or exceed its goal. We will have a second collec on on the weekend of Novem-ber 11-12 and hopefully we can complete our parish goal.

EL QUE SEA MAESTRO, QUE ENSEÑE CON EL EJEMPLO Por Humberto Beltrán
El evangelio nos recuerda las criticas que a ve-ces se oyen en contra los profesionales de la re-ligión, como son los obispos, sacerdotes, religio-sas y líderes parroquiales: que no se preocupan bastante por el pueblo, que trabajan poco, que viven con comodidades y abundancia, que aman mucho el dinero, que son duros con la gente, y otras cosas peores. Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta que Jesús en este evangelio no habla-ba directamente contra los sacerdotes o las au-toridades religiosas judías, sino contra los escri-bas y fariseos que se habían constituidos a sí mismos en directores religiosos del pueblo ju-dío. Los escribas y fariseos eran en su mayoría personas laicas que se habían inventado una nueva forma de clericalismo, formando una nueva clase religiosa, llena de fanatismo rigoris-ta y ciegos al servicio de la Ley y de sus casos especiales, con lo cual no ayudaban sino que oprimían religiosamente a la gente sencilla.
Jesús quería abrir los ojos del pueblo pa-ra liberarlo de aquellos letrados opresores. Los escribas y los fariseos se habían apropiado la tarea de formadores, de dar consejos y senten-cias sobre la Ley de Moisés, Imponían cargas religiosas sobre la conciencia del pueblo senci-llo, olvidándose de las necesidades del prójimo, llegando a convertir la Ley en un yugo insopor-table. Jesús, por su parte ofrecía un yugo suave y ligero.
Los fariseos de entonces, como algunos de los predicadores de programas religiosos que ahora vemos en la televisión, obraban de cara a la galería, buscando el aplauso y la alabanza de la gente; les faltaba una verdadera motivación interior. A ellos se les podría aplicar bien el re-frán que dice: dime de qué alardeas y te diré de qué careces. Pretendían figurar y alimentar su orgullo, vanagloria e hipocresía. Les gustaban los títulos honoríficos de “maestro, padre, guía”, usándolos para ponerse sobre los demás. Jesús condenó el uso de esos títulos, no porque fueran malos en sí mismos, sino porque los usa-ban para provecho propio, queriendo ser los primeros en todo.
La enseñanza de Jesús sigue siendo váli-da para nuestro tiempo cuando hay personas que recurren a títulos para gloriarse, ponerse sobre los demás, y formar clases privilegiadas;
hay quienes se precian de sus títulos de aboga-dos, licenciados, doctores, directores o gerentes y otros mas, cuando el único título realmente válido es el de Hijo de Dios y hermanos en Cris-to. Todo lo demás sobra, ya que el único que se merece títulos es Jesús.
Todavía hoy, el pecado más típico de las personas profesionalmente religiosas, aun de las laicas, es la hipocresía y falsedad de vida. No es fácil evitar las tentaciones para mantenerse fiel al espíritu del evangelio. Hoy, algunas per-sonas, en lugar de usar Filacterias (amuletos) como los fariseos usan biblias elegantes y bien encuadernadas. Por eso, siempre tendremos que cuestionar nuestras motivaciones; no habrá que buscar títulos de ostentación sino de servi-cio, ya que la verdadera dignidad del cristiano está en el servir a los demás, especialmente a los necesitados. La participación en la vida religiosa y espiritual no debe hacerse por mero “cumplimiento”, porque eso no sería más que una forma de “cumplo y miento”; estamos lla-mados a obrar siempre por convicción y no por convención o por “el que dirán o para que di-gan”, como ya dijimos hace unas semanas.
A veces parece ser conveniente hacer una crítica sana y positiva de nuestras instituciones religiosas, pero no hay que olvidar que sólo el que esté libre de pecado puede tirar la primera piedra. La iglesia católica, en el pasado y en el presente, ha sufrido momentos de grandes cri-sis, pero, guiada por el Espíritu de Jesús, siem-pre ha salido purificada y fortalecida, así suce-derá con la crisis del presente y el pasado.
Reflexión Siendo sencillos, sirviendo a todos , amando a los enemigos, bendiciendo a los que nos persi-guen, presentando comunidades que no hagan de Dios su dominio exclusivo, sino que lo pre-senten a El y a su Hijo Jesucristo como el mejor regalo que pueden ofrecer a todos los que en-tran en contacto con ellos, para felicidad de to-dos en esta vida y en la futura.

SALVAGUARDANDO A LOS NIÑOS DE DIOS
Todos los adultos que son voluntarios en la parroquia están obligados a tomar una clase de Virtus llamada Protección de los hijos de Dios. Esta es una clase de tres horas que se ofrece en la parroquia y es muy infor-mativo. Si usted es voluntario en la parroquia y aún no ha tomado la clase o ha tomado la clase hace más de cuatro años, tendrá que tomar la clase. Todos los vo-luntarios que tengan algún contacto con menores deben tomarse las huellas dactilares. Si está trabajando con menores y no se le han tomado huellas dactilares, debe hacerlo.

Padre Misericordioso, que nos has llamado a la vida, te pedimos por aquellos padre que haciendo mal uso de esta libertad destruyen el don de la vida que Tu les confías en sus hijos.
Perdona también a todos aquellos que permiten o colaboran con esta cobardía. Divino Niño, te pedimos por los bebes a quienes se les niega nacer, hazlos gozar de Tu presencia eternamente, difunde en nuestros países el amor a la vida desde sus inicios hasta su fin natural.
Permíteme adoptar hoy espiritualmente a un bebe por nacer y ofrecer mis oraciones, trabajos, gozos y sufrimientos por ese pequeño, para que pueda nacer y vivir para Tu mayor honor y gloria. Santa María de Guadalupe, cuida y protege a todas las madres que como tu, llevan el don de la vida en su seno. Protectora de los no nacidos. Reina de las Américas. Ruega por nosotros. Amen

SAFEGUARDING GOD’S CHILDREN
All adults who are volunteering in the parish are required to take a Virtus class called Protecting God’s children. This is a three hour class that is offered at the parish and is very informative. If you are volunteering in the parish and have not yet taken the class or you took the class more than four years ago, you will need to take the class. All vol-unteers who have any contact with minors must be fingerprinted. If you are working with minors and have not been fingerprint-ed you must do so.

The morning Bible Study Group meets eve-ry Thursday (except for holidays and vaca-tions) from 10-11:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Center. The Group, which is led by Fr. John, is continuing its study of St. Paul’s Let-ter to the Ephesians (chapters 5 and 6). All are welcome to join, even if you have missed previous meetings or have never studied the Bible before. Please bring a Bi-ble, or purchase a Bible for $10 at the first session that you attend. If you have any questions, please contact Fr. John at the parish office.
FR. JOHN’S BIBLE STUDY GROUP
Many contemporary Christians believe Je-sus was the Messiah, but they don’t neces-sarily know why they believe he was the Messiah, much less why his first followers thought he was the long-awaited king of Israel. There are dozens of passages in the Old Testament that are interpreted as pointing to Jesus as the Messiah, but, when we turn to the Gospels, we find Jesus re-peatedly referring to himself and his mis-sion in terms of several prophecies from the book of Daniel. Challenge yourself to try to understand ancient Scripture from the perspective of Jesus! The evening Bible Study group will begin again soon (starting date, day, and time will be determined later). November 16th at 7pm in Conference Room D In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus relayed a parable about a master entrusting his serv-ants with his money while he was travel-ing. When the master returned, two of his servants gave back more than they had been given. The third simply returned what was given him and reaped the wrath of his master for not investing the money wisely. We’ll reflect upon the readings for the Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time:
