Twenty‐First Sunday in Ordinary Time Today’s reading from Isaiah describes the Israelites bringing their offering to the Lord “in clean vessels.” The gift of myself — my patient endurance and fidelity to the will of God — is as important as the monetary gift I offer.

Entertainment Book Sales: Today
The sale of new 2014 Entertainment Books will be after all Masses. We will be selling the new Dallas Entertainment Books only twice this year. Sales will be today and again in October. Books are also available in the Parish Office. The Entertainment Books are under new management, have been improved and the cost has been reduced to $25. One positive aspect identi-fied by the new management is that an app will be included for web access of Entertainment digital coupons which can be used throughout the United States. These books are valid until NOV 1, 2014. Note: Credit card purchases will be available through the Knights today and again in October: A free Entertainment 2013 book will be provided with the purchase of two Entertainment 2014 books while supplies of the 2013 Books last. These 2013 books are valid through until November 1, 2013.
Special Olympics – Aquatics: September 6/7 Our Council is participating with Councils from the entire Dallas Diocese in supporting the Special Olympics Aquatics held on September 6/7 at the Frisco ISD Natatorium. All parishioners are invited to attend and support these athletes. For more information please go to their website: http://www.friscoisd.org/community/natinfo.htm or you can email the Diocesan Special Olympics Coordinator, Jim Massey, at [email protected].
Flags and Electronics Recycling for Special Olympics Unserviceable flags continue to be collected in the flag box which is now located inside the Usher’s Room at the rear of the old Narthex. If you are not familiar with the location of the Usher’s Room, please ask an usher for direc-tions. Used cell phones, inkjet cartridges, digital cameras, camcorders, and hand held electronic games can also be placed in this box. The flags will be disposed of in a proper manner. All electronic equipment will be recycled by an environmentally responsible company and the proceeds from the recy-cling will be donated to Special Olympics.
Special Note: If you see a flag on a business establishment that is in need of replacement, please talk with the store manager, thank him for flying the Stars and Stripes, and ask that the unserviceable flag be replaced and given to you. You should then place the flag into the flag box identified above. The flag is the symbol of our nation and it is important that it be displayed and maintained properly.

It’s that time of year again, back to school time! That means having our calendars in hand and penciling in sports practices, music and dance lessons and don’t forget— Faith Formation. As parents we are called to live up to the promises we made at our children’s baptism. We must make an effort and sometimes a sacrifice to ensure that our children continue to grow in their spirituality and Catholic faith. Parents can be a real influence in the faith by being present in the faith formation classes themselves. There are many opportunities at St. Mark to participate as catechist, catechist assistant and office staff. Our children do notice what we as parents con‐sider important. I will never forget something a father once told me, “If parents do not set an example for their children and actively volunteer in their church community, what is go‐ing to make those children want to volunteer when they are adults?” Respond to living out holiness by being a catechist. St. Mark Parish needs parishioners to join the Elementary Faith Forma‐tion Ministry and participate as a catechist, catechist assistant, teen helper, and office staff during the Sunday & Wednesday sessions.
BOTH OUR ENGLISH AND BILINGUAL SESSIONS NEED CATECHISTS
Please contact our office for details Peggy Theis, Coordinator, [email protected]
