THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTIONS FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY

Universal: Interreligious Dialogue - That sincere dialogue among men and women of different faiths may produce the fruits of peace and justice.

Evangelization: Christian Unity - That by means of dialogue and fraternal charity and with the grace of the Holy Spirit, Christians may overcome divisions.

BAPTISM OF THE LORD “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming...he will baptize you

with the Holy Spirit…’” - Luke 3:16

The Catholic Catechism states that “Jesus’ immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to die to themselves to do God’s will.” In other words, as baptized Catholics there is only one gift that we need to give to Jesus--the gift of ourselves. Once we surrender ourselves to God, we will know in our hearts what God calls us to do.

TURNING THE TIDE When everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

—Harriet Beecher Stowe

You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their

difficulty, but at the love with which we do them. -St. Therese of Lisieux

Rebuild my CHURCH

REMEMBER ST. MARY’S IN YOUR WILL

Our parents have taught us the importance and the great value of being generous throughout our lives. Knowing that God’s generosity depends on us, “...the measure with which you measure, will be measured out to you!” St. Mary’s Parish exists only because of your kindness, your generosity and the many sacrifices you share with Her. Please remember St. Mary’s Parish in your Will! ~ Fr. Michael G.

GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING . . .

St. Mary’s Parish is totally dependent upon the generosity of its parishioners for parish support. Our church support program is called “Sacrificial Giving”. Each individual parishioner or family is asked to consistently give “their fair share”, in support of their parish in a spirit of thanksgiving to God, to enable our parish church to carry out the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. The envelopes provided for you are to be used as gift wrappers for each sacrificial gift you give to the Lord. Please be generous, since God is generous to us.

asked the nervous bridegroom. “For better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or…” Just a minute, Father!” interrupted the bride. “Stop now or you’ll talk him right out of it.”

Holy Humor

God’s Plan

Goodness is its own reward and evil is its own punishment, and then we must all leave the future to the mercy and love of God, instead of thinking we are the umpires and judges of who goes where, when, and how. What a cosmic waste of time and energy and attention.
