The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and fun was had by all. Lucas Longworth and Lenny Eyres were the lucky winners of Lego sets for their winning creations. The children were a credit to parents and the school for their wonderful be- haviour and conduct whilst out and about. Well done Year 1! Thank you to Mr Coppenhall, Mrs Dix-Baker, Mrs Stapylton and Mrs Fitzsimmons for looking after the children on their exciting day out. Internet Safety Day Tuesday 11 February was National Internet Safety Day. To mark this important event our team of Year 5 e-safety experts, Alex Hulse, Billy Hillen, Jayden Jones and Eddie Burke have been busy sharing their knowledge on how to stay safe online. Today they delivered an informative assembly to KS2 children about online safety. The children produced a wonderful powerpoint presentation and are great online safety ambassadors for our school. Great work boys! Minnie Vinnies (SVP) During lent, the Mini Vinnies are organising a foodbank col- lecon. They are asking families to donate one foodbank item each week during Lent which will be collected and passed on to Warrington Foodbank to help local families who need it. SAVE THE DATE! On Tuesday 10 March, the Mini Vinnies will be holding a coffee morning from 10.00am, to 11.30am in the school hall. All Welcome, parents, families and parishioners. Parent Consultation Meetings Thank you to parents who came along to our two Parents’ Evenings this week. Both sessions were very well attended and the feedback on your evaluation forms was very positive. A summary of the evaluations is attached to this newsletter. Contextual Safeguarding Keeping Safe Near the Railway Line On Tuesday 11 February, KS1 children enjoyed a ‘contextual safeguarding’ session. They watched a fun, live broadcast with Thomas the Tank Engine who gave them lots of advice and information on how to stay safe near the railway line. The children really enjoyed the ses- sion and at the end of the broadcast they got a ’shout out’ from Thomas! Can we please remind parents that St Oswalds is a healthy eating school and we do not allow children to bring in chocolate bars, sweets or biscuits for snack time. It is great to see children bring in grapes for snack time, however we request that they be cut lengthways in half to prevent choking on them while running around at playtime. We have listed below several suggestions for healthy snacks: Fresh Fruit, Dried Fruit, Fruit bread or malt loaf Rice Cakes, Bread Sticks Carrot sticks, Celery sticks. Cheese portions. Please be aware that there are children in school with nut allergies please do not send in snacks containing nuts including chocolate spread fillings.

Year 1 Class Trip to

Legoland and Sea Life

On Thursday 13 February our Year 1

children enjoyed a fantastic day out at

On Monday 10 February Mary

Hallam from CAFOD came back

into school to talk to KS1 children

about Laudato Si,

‘Praise be to you’ and caring for

our world.

We thank Mary for taking the

time to speak to the children.

Year 4 Preparation Mass

On Saturday 15th February there will

be a preparation Mass for Year 4 at

St Oswald’s Church at 6pm.

Alternatively, children who are unable

to attend on Saturday can attend

Mass at St Benedict’s on Sunday

16th at 10.30am.

Please let Fr Dave

know as soon as

possible if you are

unable to attend ei-

ther of these Masses.

Wishing all our children and families a very enjoyable half term holiday.
