Year 1 Class Trip to
Legoland and Sea Life
On Thursday 13 February our Year 1
children enjoyed a fantastic day out at
Legoland Discovery Centre and Sea Life
Centre in Manchester. The
children thoroughly enjoyed the day and
fun was had by all.
Lucas Longworth and Lenny Eyres were
the lucky winners of Lego sets for
their winning creations.
The children were a credit to parents
and the school for their wonderful be-
haviour and conduct whilst out and
about.
Well done Year 1!
Thank you to Mr Coppenhall, Mrs
Dix-Baker, Mrs Stapylton and
Mrs Fitzsimmons for looking after the
children on their exciting day out.
Internet Safety Day
Tuesday 11 February was National
Internet Safety Day. To mark this
important event our team of Year 5
e-safety experts, Alex Hulse, Billy Hillen,
Jayden Jones and Eddie Burke have been
busy sharing their knowledge on how to
stay safe online.
Today they delivered an informative
assembly to KS2 children about online
safety.
The children produced a wonderful
powerpoint presentation and are great
online safety ambassadors for our school.
Great work boys!
Minnie Vinnies (SVP)
During lent, the Mini Vinnies are organising a foodbank col-
lection. They are asking families to donate one foodbank item each week
during Lent which will be collected and passed on to Warrington Foodbank to help
local families who need it.
SAVE THE DATE!
On Tuesday 10 March, the Mini Vinnies will be holding a coffee morning from 10.00am, to 11.30am in the school hall.
All Welcome, parents, families and parishioners.
Parent Consultation Meetings
Thank you to parents who came along to
our two Parents’ Evenings this week.
Both sessions were very well attended
and the feedback on your evaluation
forms was very positive.
A summary of the evaluations is attached
to this newsletter.
Contextual Safeguarding
Keeping Safe Near the Railway Line
On Tuesday 11 February, KS1 children enjoyed a
‘contextual safeguarding’ session. They watched a
fun, live broadcast with Thomas the Tank Engine
who gave them lots of advice and information on
how to stay safe near the railway line.
The children really enjoyed the ses-
sion and at the end of the broadcast
they got a ’shout out’ from Thomas!
Can we please remind parents
that St Oswald’s is a healthy
eating school and we do not
allow children to bring in
chocolate bars, sweets or
biscuits for snack time.
It is great to see children bring
in grapes for snack time,
however we request that they
be cut lengthways in half to
prevent choking on them while
running around at playtime.
We have listed below several
suggestions for healthy snacks:
Fresh Fruit, Dried Fruit,
Fruit bread or malt loaf
Rice Cakes, Bread Sticks
Carrot sticks, Celery sticks.
Cheese portions.
Please be aware that there are
children in school with nut
allergies please do not send in
snacks containing nuts
including chocolate spread
fillings.
