PASTOR’S corner

Fourth Sunday of Advent: Mary trusted that the Lord’s words to her would be fulfilled. Step out in faith and God will be there to guide you. (Luke 1:39-45) Let us pray that men and women may reach out to those in need through dedicated service as priest, brothers, and sisters. (Vocation View sponsored by the Serra Club)

CHRISTMAS 2006 – MASS SCHEDULE

NATIVITY OF OUR LORD

Vigil Mass: 6:00 pm Christmas Day:10:00 am (NOTE) There will not be an 11:00pm Mass on Christmas Eve.

Knights of Columbus Council 10567 Meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, upstairs in the Knights Room in the Rev. Raymond J. Murrin Family Life Center. A meal and fellowship will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m. The meeting should start at 7 p.m. and not last more than an hour. All Knights are encouraged to attend.

FAITH FORMATION: Congratulations to Grade 5 for having full attendance on December 13th.

REMEMBER: We will not have Faith Formation on December 27th or January 3rd. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 10th.

RCIA/ ADULT FAITH FORMATION: All are welcome to attend each Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. We will not have class on Wednesday December 27th or January 3rd. Classes will resume on Wednesday January 10th.

THE ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASS: The Bible Study Class will not meet this Sunday, December 24th. We will resume Sunday, December 31st.

HOLY FAMILY HIGH SCHOOL: a Cristo Rey Network Program serving low-income and minority youth will have Open House on January 11th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

OUR LADY OF SORROWS CATHOLIC SCHOOL invites you to their Open House for prospective students and their families on January 21st from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Applications will be available. Space is limited and classes fill quickly. Applications do not roll over from year to year. If you are on a waiting list for 2006, you must re-apply for 2007. Call 879-3237 for more information.

CHOIR PRACTICE Choir to warm up at 5 pm on Christmas Eve. Carols begin at 5:30. Next Scheduled Choir Practice is January 8th. CHRISTMAS EVE MASS NOTES: All Children in the program for the 6 pm Christmas Eve Mass (Costumed Characters and Children’s Choir) should be in Saint Joseph Hall at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, December 24th. Costumed Characters are to come dressed in their costume and will pick up props at the church on 12/24. Children Choir Members are to wear the following: BOYS / White (Light color ) Dress Shirt and Black (Dark ) Pants GIRLS / Sunday Dress with white tights. If you have any questions, please contact the church office and you will be called. Thanks so much!

SPIRIT Leaders will meet this Tuesday, December 26, at 6:45 p.m., in the SPIRIT Room. We WILL NOT meet Tuesday, January 2.

BULLETIN NOTICES: please have any bulletin notices in the office by noon Wednesday. WHEELCHAIR: A wheelchair is in the Cry Room, available for Emergencies Only. LOST AND FOUND: There are several articles in lost and found. Please call the Church Office for assistance. DAILY MASS-ROSARY-NOVENA PRAYER : Daily Mass is at 9 am Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 6 pm Wednesday. A Rosary, the Daily Prayer for Vocations, and the Miraculous Medal Novena Prayer will be prayed 30 minutes before Daily Mass begins. A Rosary is prayed at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel every Sunday morning and at 4:30 p.m. each Saturday evening. Volunteers are requested to lead the Rosary at each occasion. The Primary Intention of the Rosary prayed is: ‘An End to Abortion’. DAILY MASS MINISTRY: Volunteers are needed to be Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion during Daily Mass. If you are coming to Daily Mass please check the sign-in sheet in the Narthex. If no one is down to serve and you would like to, just sign your name on the appropriate line. We currently have a number of openings for this month that we need to fill. If you are able to help with this ministry please sign the sheet in the Narthex. DID YOU KNOW that one of our own parishioners records a radio spot for a local station in Florida? This week's greeting has a special Christmas flavor to it. You can listen and find more information on the home page of the church website (left side under Latest News). Hint: This same parishioner will narrate the children's scene for the Christmas Eve Mass.
