The Ssnctuary Candle burns
In memory of
Anna Marie Brennan
The Blessed Mother Candle burns
in memory of
Astrid Kromayer
The scripture readings presented for our reflecon this Sunday
are clearly about sheep and shepherds. This is such a familiar
image for us in our Bible readings and hymns and prayers.
However, being a “city girl” I never really experienced sheep
up close. That is unl this past spring. I had the wonderful
opportunity to visit Ireland a few months ago, and if you have
ever been there, you know that sheep are everywhere! Prac-
cally every field or meadow had sheep peacefully grazing in it.
A few mes I saw some wayward sheep running along the
road. Our guide did not seem concerned and said the shep-
herd would come find them and guide them back at the end of
the day. So, as I read today’s readings and psalm, it all seems
clearer to me.
A shepherd is a good symbol for anyone who is in a posion of
leadership, either civil or religious. A good leader, like a good
shepherd, gathers the sca, ered, rather than drives away or
divides. A good leader has compassion and a heart moved
with pity for those he or she leads. There seems to be a unify-
ing thread in today’s readings, a message of pulling together,
not dividing; of reconciling and understanding.
Jeremiah:
“Woe to the shepherds who mislead and scaer the flock of my
pasture”
“You have scaered my sheep and driven them away. You
have not cared for them…”
“I myself will gather the remnant of my flock…and bring them
back…”
Ephesians:
“For he is our peace, he who made both one and broke down
the dividing wall of enmity…”
Gospel of Mark:
“…his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like
sheep without a shepherd…”
As devoted followers of Jesus, the one true Shepherd, let us
take to heart the message of the prophets and evangelists.
May we all have the grace and courage to live with compas-
sion, understanding and a reconciling heart. May we also pray
for all who take on the sacred mantle of leadership, in our
church, our country and in all countries of our world. Let us
pray that all leaders will model themselves on the Good Shep-
herd.
God bless you,
Sister Eileen

LIGHT & LOVE HOLY HOUR
Friday, August 10th 7PM - 8PM
End your week with a time of prayer at St. Patrick Parish.
On the second Friday of each month, you are invited to bring the good and the
bad, the highs and lows of your week and simply be present with God as you
enter a restful weekend.
Each Light & Love event will begin with a brief guided meditation, silent re-
flection, and time for reconciliation in order to guide our thoughts and prayers.
After cleansing our souls, we will enter into adoration of the Blessed Sacrament,
simply appreciating God’s endless love for us. Finally, we will close with shared
worship and song to celebrate the glory of being God’s beloved children.

Building and Appeal Update….
Our Growing Together as a Family of Faith Appeal continues to gain momentum as we prepare for our growing community.
We are approaching the finish line for our new parish offices. This week the inside offices have all received two coats of paint, the
flooring and cabinets are being installed and the driveway is being completed. Work
is being done to provide electricity and phone service to the building. We are hopeful
that the offices will be ready by the end of August.
We look forward to an Open House soon after the work has been completed.
The preliminary work for the second and third phases of our project is also underway.
We will keep you updated as we progress.
Thank you for your continued generosity and financial support.
We recently reached the 53% mark of our goal.
