Rupert’s!
I read an article about the D-Day invasion of Europe. On June 6, 1944 an armada of Allied ships assaulted the beaches of Normandy, France. Also, thousands of airplanes dropped paratroopers into the action. Along with the paratroopers the
Allied forces dropped hundred’s of rubber dummies, called Rupert’s behind enemy lines. These rubber dummies were intended to simulate an attack to confuse the enemy. As the Rupert’s landed some German outposts were tricked into fighting the rubber dummies which created a crack in the German stronghold of Europe.
We can accept that kind of deception as part of a military operation de-signed to confuse the enemy. What we should not accept is the deception Satan
throws our way. St. Paul tells us in 2nd Corinthians that the devil and his servants appear to be people who are promoting righteousness.
We must be alert! Each day the world is telling us what is right or wrong. If we are not careful, we may be tricked by Satan’s lies. We must keep our eyes on Jesus and His teachings to help us keep going in the right direction. Rely on the Holy
Spirit which is truth. Everything else is for Rupert’s!

Catholic Home Missions
The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this appeal works to strengthen home mission dioceses in the US is by funding seminarian formation
in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioces-es, where educating each seminarian costs $35-40k per year. Your support is needed for
these young men so that they might go back & serve their parishes. Please strengthen the
Church at home by making a generous gift to next week’s appeal.

Dear Friends, Five summers ago, I had the joy of being assigned to St. Margaret Mary’s and St. Patrick’s for the summer. I learned a lot that summer–
and I have many fond memories of those days. It is hard to believe that soon I will become a priest! I will be ordained on Saturday, June 6, at 10 am at Ss. Peter & Paul
Cathedral in Indianapolis. My Mass of Thanksgiving (“First Mass”) will be at my home
parish, St. Charles Borromeo in Bloomington at 4 pm the same day. A reception will follow at the parish. Pleas know that you are more than welcome to attend any of these
events, but we need an RSVP by May 1 at stcharlesbloomington.org/rsvp if you are

Bulletin Guidelines
All submissions for the bulletin must be sent to Malia Mohan by Wednesday at noon of the week requested, and information must be approved by a staff mem-
ber. If requesting a flier to be inserted, the information should not be repeated in the bulletin,
and longer than a paragraph.
There is a new limit of 3 fliers per week.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION The RE Classes will be taking their Family Service Field Trips on Sunday, April 19. Please meet in the classrooms to take attendance at 10:30 am.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
It’s time to register for Vacation Bible School! VBS will be held Monday, June 22-Friday, June 26 this year, 9 am-noon each day. The theme is

CATHOLIC CHARITIES The five Indiana bishops have issued a pastoral letter on poverty. The overall goal is to bring awareness to the suffering that is experienced by our

Adoration Chapel SAFETY TIPS Luke 17:15
When he saw that he was healed, he came back, praising
God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him.
There were10 lepers who were healed in this passage in Luke 17. But only one came back and said thank you to
Jesus...and that one was a despised Samaritan. This pas-
sage came to mind in the Soup Kitchen when one of our friends came back in the Soup Kitchen to say “thank you.”
There is a special blessing for those who return to say “thank you..” And the blessing is shared with those of us
who serve. I want to share that “thank you” to everyone
at St. Patrick’s Church who gives to this ministry and makes the daily miracles of this ministry possible.

Senior Citizen Mass
The 6th Annual West Central Indiana Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry and Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank Hog Roast will be held Saturday, April 25
from 5-9 pm at the Rile American Legion Post #325. Proceeds will be used to process, package, store, and deliver high protein deer and livestock to area emer-
gency food providers in Vigo and surrounding west central Indiana counties.
Tickets can be purchased at the Catholic Charities office at 1801 Poplar St or at Roselawn Memorial Park at 7500 N. Clinton St.

The Deanery Pastoral Leadership and Deanery Center will host the annual Senior Citizen Appreciation Mass and
Dinner on Thursday, May 7 at St. Margaret Mary Church. This event celebrates the faith of our deanery senior
citizens and expresses gratitude for your sharing the faith
for many years. There is no cost. Mass is at 11 am with a catered dinner following in the Legacy Room of the Dede

Calling for stewards of time and talent for Parish Pastoral Council! Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Elections will be held in May. We are seeking persons who
can 1) contribute time to a monthly 1 1/2 hour meeting 2) contacting selected parish ministry leaders for monthly updates; and 3) contribute talent to “big picture thinking”
about the current & future of the St. Patrick Parish family. Elected terms are for three
contacting parishioners we think would be good stewards. BUT, even better, if you would
be a good steward of the time and talent described, please contact any of the three nomi-nating committee members. Don’t be shy!
Thank you to all who donated items or money for our March package drop. Special thanks to the middle school students
who made thank you cards for each box. We had eight names of soldiers (five males and three fe-
males) who each received two boxes of goodies to help them
through the long months of deployment away from their families.

HOSPITAL VISITATION
WHEN BEING ADMITTED to the hospi-tal, Catholic patients need to inform the ad-mitting staff of their religious affiliation and if a visit from the parish is desired. Due to federal regulations, if patients do not inform the admitting staff, the church will not know of their hospital stay.
Patients can always call the church directly if a visit is desired or sacrament of the sick is needed. Religious affiliation information is not normally obtained from patients who en-ter the hospital through the emergency room.
Always feel free to call us if you are in the hospital or are planning a hospital stay.
