As we look forward to the full implementation of the Third edition of the Roman Missal we are struggling along with our SUNG parts of the Mass now. Those attending daily Mass are beginning to use the words from the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. One of the main goals for this new translation is a re- catechizing of the beauty and dignity of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Servant of God, Pope John Paul II wrote in one of his Wednesday Audiences during the great Jubilee Year of 2000: “the Eucharist which we cele- brate here on Earth is a sharing in the great liturgy of heaven…it is not only food for us on our pilgrim way, but also the promise of what lies at our journey‟s end when we enter the kingdom of God.” The Eucharist which you and I partake is distinctly connected the one sacrifice of Christ on Calvary which we be- come witnesses of. It is our “thanksgiving meal” which tells us that we are not alone that Jesus is with us.
