Jubilee Holy Year

of Mercy

Easter is what makes us Christians. The life of Jesus is not put before us merely as a good example of someone who was true to his beliefs. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and it is Easter that demonstrates this. In Jesus God has taken on our life and transformed it. Through baptism we share in the very life of the crucified and risen Christ and so we are made new. It may be that at times we are like Peter, who on reaching the tomb just looks in and wonders, but there comes a point when we are asked to take the risk of faith of seeing and believing that God could indeed love us this much.

PARISH NEWS

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: APRIL 3 Please join us for our Divine

Mercy programme next Sunday, as follows:

1pm: Adoration & Reconciliation 2pm: Mass

3pm: Chaplet & Benediction. The Divine Mercy Novena com-menced on Good Friday and will be prayed until Saturday April 2. The Chaplet will be prayed at the

conclusion of all Masses.

Today we reach the climax of the journey of the Triduum we have walked together, the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace,

and we wish you a joyous Easter Day, the day of our Salvation.

“Today the Prince of Peace calls us to follow him: Wherever there is darkness and evil, to be bearers of light and goodness;

Wherever there is anger and hostility, to offer unconditional love, hospitality and compassion; And wherever there is a hunger for revenge and conflict, to work patiently

for a world of peace and mercy, come what may.”

May you enjoy a day of celebration with family and friends, and we thank you for your support and your presence here at this and many other services of the Triduum.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your Easter wishes, cards and gifts. Frs Tadeusz & Roman

THANK YOU TO THE MANY WHO CONTRIBUTED TO OUR CEREMONIES We are extremely grateful to all those who gave their time so generously to assist in any way at St Patrick’s or at Somersby, with the presentation of our Easter ceremonies, or for their participation in the liturgies, and in many cases, both. From the cleaners, to the decorators, to the floral artists, to the readers, altar servers [both junior and senior] & Eucharistic Ministers, to all musicians and those who com-bined so beautifully at the Passion and Easter Vigil, we say ‘thank you’! Where would we be without you?

‘Being Lost … Being Found’ Diocese of Brisbane Lenten Programme

‘CATHOLIC TIP OF THE WEEK’

What distinguishes Christianity from every other religion in the world? Jesus was the only person who ever claimed to be the Son of God, who became man and died for our sins. On the third day after his death and burial, as prophesied thousands of years earlier, he rose from the dead and was seen by more than 500 people. Other world religions have had their figureheads die, but none have ever risen from the dead and been witnessed by others. Are you a witness for your faith?
