Seeking to Know, Grow In, and Show the Ways of Jesus
Letter from the Pastor
Dear Friends,
Carl and I had a very wonderful Christmas and New Year. I felt especially blessed to be a part of the family and traditions of St. Paul’s Church. One of the highlights of my holiday was our Sunday School Christmas Pageant. I couldn’t believe the depth of talent our church has--from singers, to actors, to readers, to musicians, to organizers and directors--all did a beautiful and remarkable job of making the evening of the pageant special.
I was also thrilled to meet so many of your extended family members on Christmas Eve. I love the closeness and reunions this time of year brings.
Of course the season also brought its sorrows and concerns. We mourned the loss of one of our most beloved and faithful members--Vera Freese. We will miss her dearly, but take comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace in God’s good care.
I am pleased to report that Ellen Engelage is recovering well from her knee replacement surgery. Dee Schuster is also doing well after surgery. I continue to hold Jerome Bunge and Orie McCarty in my prayers--as well as all those on our prayer list.
I want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and gifts given my family and I. We enjoyed every cookie, cake, cinnamon roll, and piece of candy. I’m afraid one of my New Year’s resolutions is now going to have to be trying to lose the extra pounds I put on over the holidays. Hopefully, getting back into the normal routine of work and worship will help.
Again I want to say what a pleasure it is to be serving with and among you. I am sure that when your permanent pastor comes, they will be equally impressed and blessed by you.
With warm regards, Pastor Donna

January Extra Step – God Cares God Cares Ministry was incorporated in 2010 in an effort to help veterans find employment. This
organization assists those in need to find temporary shelter, food, clothing, mentoring and employer contacts so they can best present themselves to prospective employers. Self-sufficiency is the goal and the ministry’s motto is: “Helping Others, Help Themselves.” Veterans put careers on hold, families on hold, education on hold to perform this sacrifice for us. Unfortunately, in some cases, these veterans lost those things they were required to put on hold. God Cares is currently serving Missouri counties of Warren, Lincoln, Montgomery, St. Charles and Franklin. God Cares has no overhead so all donations go directly to helping individuals. Those who serve in this ministry are all volunteers. Visit them on the web: http://god-cares-ministry.org/

Quilters are encouraged
to join us. All are welcome; participants need not be a member of St. Paul’s to stitch with us. Quilters meet on Mondays 10am-4:30pm and Thursdays 1-4:30pm.
Encourage fellow quilters you know to come join us! Also, if anyone wishes to learn to quilt, this would be an excellent opportunity.

St. Paul’s Christmas Program, was a success, and DVDs
will soon be available for purchase. The proceeds will go to the Evangelical
Children’s Home. A very special thanks to Charles Eichmeyer for video-
taping the program and for being the “voice of God” in “The Christmas
Guest!” A very special thanks to ALL who helped with the program in any
way. It was very much a team effort, and we could not have done this
alone. We have a great amount of talent at St. Paul’s UCC—whether it be
singing, acting, playing an instrument, keeping children calm, organization
behind the scenes, stage management, wardrobe—we are truly blessed!
