National Day of Prayer

The theme for the upcoming National Day of Prayer is “Wake Up America.” Bring your rosary and join us on Thursday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. We will pray for the needs of our

great nation. “May we again be your people not a nation above God but one nation Humble and under God. Amen.”

Mother’s day Mass Cards

Mother’s Day Mass Cards are available in the foyer of the Church and in the Parish Office.

Novena Masses for our mothers will begin on Sunday, May 8th.

My Fellow Parishioners, we are on our way on collecting for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets.

We are in need of the following items for the baskets: Stove Top Stuffing, packaged spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly. Canned Meals like Chef Boyardee, Progresso or any type of can food that has a full meal. We are also collecting canned beans, corn, green beans, turkey gravy and tuna, Salt, Mayonnaise and Cooking Oil.

The Elizabeth Ministry will be hosting a Memorial Mass on Friday May 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the Church for families that have experience

Miscarriage, Stillbirth Infant/Child Death or Abortion. Special liturgy, music, poems,

prayers, a balloon release and a reception will be included.

ST. PAUL THE APOSTLE PASTORAL COUNCIL

Interested in taking an active role advising our Pastor in shaping our Parish towards the future? Our Parish Council represents the parishioners and advises any needs, concerns or praise directly to our Pastor.

The Parish Council is now seeking nominations and self-nominations for new members. We are looking for individuals age 18 and over who are enthusiastic, committed and willing to share their time and talents in service of Our Lord and our beloved Parish here at St. Paul. Council members serve three-year terms. You must be a registered parishioner and have been actively participating with St. Paul.

Nomination forms are available in the foyer of the Church, and Council members will be available at the tables after the Masses to answer any questions or concerns you may have on the following weekends: Now through May 8th. Your Church needs you!

BEREAVEMENT “SEASONS OF HOPE”

Are you grieving the loss of a loved one and it seems as if the pain will never end? Come and experience God's comfort and love with our Grief Share Support Group.

We will be meeting May 2nd and May 16th in the Damien Center, Room 4 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. We’ll have information and materials to help you through this difficult

time. We are available for private sessions over the telephone or at the Church for those who are most in need. Call Randa Smith at 393-9848 for assistance and information.

"Santacruzan Annual Event The Filipino Catholics of Saint Paul’s major fundraising event this year for our Church will be our 2nd Flores De Mayo (flowers of May) or the Santacruzan. Celebrated in the month of May in tribute to the Virgin Mary. We are inviting everybody to join us in this event which will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 5:00 p.m. We will have a procession of the Virgin Mary & the Reynas around the Church grounds, followed by the coronation of the Virgin Mary and a short program by the Reynas in Maher Hall.

Please support the Reynas or Queens who participate in this event. The officers of the Filipino Catholics will be in the foyer of the Church or in the Courtyard on Sunday after Masses to sell tickets that will count as votes for the Reyna of your choice.”

RCIA IS OPEN “YEAR ROUND”

The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) process is designed for adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation that include Baptism, Sea-son. We meet Sunday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Women’s Retreat Mother’s Day Weekend, May 6th - May 8th Retreat for Women will be held at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center located at 700 North Sunnyside Avenue in Sierra Madre, CA 91024.

The retreat which is preached by the Passionist Retreat Team begins Friday afternoon and concludes early Sunday noon. The lovely grounds and peaceful atmosphere of Mater Dolorosa make this a perfect spot for a weekend of spiritual renewal and growth.

Theme: “ No Greater Love Than This” Requested donation $240.00 ($50.00 non-refundable deposit but it can be applied to a future retreat). No one is turned away because of inability to pay.
