Volume 15 Issue 2 February 2019 OUR MISSION STATEMEN T To Be an Active Community Reflecting Gods Presence in Chittenango and Other Communities We Represent. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Chittenango, New York What’s on the Horizon for Holy Week The Good News Technically, January would have been my last cover letter for the Newslet- ter, but with the advent of difficult weather, the Annual Meeting be post- poned until the First Sunday in February – I am still the Sr. Warden. Funny how things happen. It is not often, in the history of St. Pauls – that the church closes due to in- clement weather. And it was not a decision easily reached. As luck would have it, the Vestry met the Thursday before the storm and the question on everyones mind was, will we close”? As a unit, we decided that it was not advisable to have Fr. Leon drive from N. Syracuse to Chittenango, nor did we feel comfortable asking our Lay Readers, who both live a distance out- side of Chittenango, to attempt a trip in on iffy roads. We also felt comforta- ble that most of our church family would agree. I want to thank the Vestry members who split up the duties of calling people and letting them know. You guys rock!! Thank you! Normally, this article would be the State of the Church address that the warden or Priest gives before the Annual Meeting. That way, anyone who was unable to be with us physically, can read what was said during the ser- vice. That being said, we are looking towards the future services, which the Worship Committee, Fr. Leon and Fr. Charles have worked out. Here is the Schedule leading up to Holy Week and Easter: March 6 – Ash Wednesday – Imposition of Ashes 12:00 PM w/Fr. Outside These Walls

(Robin’s Message - Continued) With the coming of Lent, now is the time to follow the call from the Book of Common Prayer found on page 265: "the observance of a holy Lent, by self- examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word" Forward Day by Day has a wonderful Lenten program which, for those of us online, can be found here: http://prayer.forwardmovement.org/forward_day_by_day.php?d=27&m=1&y=2019

For those of us who are not able to utilize the online link, there are copies of the Forward at Church. Feel free to take one and use the readings and medita-tions available. Thank you for your unwavering support of St. Paul’s, it is noticed and appreciated. Yours in Christ, Robin Weisbrod Sr. Warden

Difficult Conversations Workshop Tuesday, March 12th 6:00-8:00 p.m. St. John’s Episcopal Church 341 Main Street, Oneida

Emotions get heated. Tensions rise. The subject matter gets challenging. How can we have fruitful conversa-tions in this time of increasing incivility? “Difficult Conversations” workshops will build your capacity to engage in faithful, respectful conversations with others—even when there’s deep disagreement. You’ll gain conflict resolution skills and learn how to encourage civil dialogue. Clergy, laypeople (community members, parishioners, church vestry members, ministry leaders, volunteers and staff), and high-school-age youth will all benefit from the tools presented in this workshop. Led by Canon Carrie Schofield-Broadbent of the Epis-copal Diocese of Central New York. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. REGISTER by March 5th at https://cnyepiscopal.org Handicapped spot in front of church, small parking lot and plenty of street parking. Enter through parish hall door on right of church.
