Readings & Psalm Psalm: 13

1 How long, O Lord, will you so utterly forget me: how long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I suffer anguish in my soul, and be so grieved in my heart day and night: how long shall my enemy triumph over me? 3 Look upon me, O Lord my God, and answer me: lighten my eyes, lest I sleep in death; 4 Lest my enemy say ‘I have prevailed’: lest my foes exult at my overthrow. 5 Yet I put my trust in your unfailing love: O let my heart rejoice in your salvation. 6 And I will make my song to the Lord: because he deals so bountifully with me.

Romans 6.12-23 12 Therefore, do not let sin exercise dominion in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions. 13 No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that you, having once been slaves of sin, have become obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18 and that you, having been set free from sin, have be-come slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness for sanctification. 20 When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 So what advantage did you then get from the things of which you now are ashamed? The end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanc-tification. The end is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Notices and Parish News: Coming up: July: Roxanne will be taking leave for a month 5 7pm: Honouring our Parents August: 1 Parentzone: see insert for more details

Parish Patronal Festival Dinner This was another wonderful, fun evening. Many thanks to Bruce Brown; a chief organiser with flair! We raised $735.00. Already people are won-dering about the theme/country for next year!

Thank you to Ruth and Chris Hudnott Many ministry roles here at St Paul’s are done quietly behind the scenes by various parishioners. Two such wonderful people are Ruth and Chris Hudnott. Ruth has been wonderful in creating the Lay Participation Roster for a number of years, taking over from Bruce Brown. Rosters take time to collate and to ensure that people are available for the roles each Sun-day. Thank you Ruth. Chris has been the Sacristan also for a number of years, taking over from Tom Lambert. The Sacristan sets up the church for worship each Sunday, making sure everything is in order, that there is enough bread, wine, candles, tapers, and a myriad of others tasks. A ministry Chris has done beautifully. Thank you Chris.

CONGRATULATIONS TRICIA! —Queen’s Birthday honours Tricia Cain who comes to 8am has received the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the General Division. This was awarded for service to aged care, and to the community.

Honouring our Parents —July 5, 7pm I have been thinking about how to support each other as our parents be-come frail. Some of our parents are close by, and some live distant from us. So I would like to offer an evening on Wednesday 5th July, at 7pm for us to gather to support each other and to hold a space liturgically. I have asked Geoff Wraight, who is the Pastoral Care Manager from Baptcare to facilitate this time. For the evening, I would suggest the ac-tual ‘space held’ would be1 hour and then have a cuppa or something afterwards.

Lunch Club —July 9, 12pm Our next Lunch Club is happening on the Queen’s Birthday weekend - Sunday 9th July 2017 from 12 midday. Please talk to Laura Kaspen or Rosemary Miller if you have any food allergies or intolerances. Cost - by donation.

Dinners for Eight It’s time to start brainstorming ideas for the August Dinners for Eight. These dinners are hosted by parishioners and are a great way to get to know more people in our lovely community… and to raise some funds for the parish! Jill Bales and Laura Kaspen have kindly agreed to coordinate this event.

Spring Fair Elaine Centeno, a third year student at LaTrobe, will be co-ordinating the fair with Laurie David as her mentor (and with some assistance from Laura). Elaine is doing this as an experiential learning project for her Bachelor of Business Event Management and Marketing. While Elaine acquires practical work experience St Paul's acquires a Spring Fair! However we need the help of all parishioners willing and able to share their talents for this adventure. The proposed date for the fair is 16th September. Elaine is currently sitting exams and Laurie is overseas for a month, so to get things started, in their temporary absence, please contact Laura ([email protected] or 0414344566) with your avail-ability, your preferred activity/stall and any ideas you have for the fair. Thank-you!

Name Badges If you have a name badge, please remember to wear it, as it can be of help to those of the congregation who have trouble remembering names. If you would like a badge, please fill out a form in the Narthex, or see Margaret Irvine. If this is your first badge, it is free. Replacements at a cost of $7.00.

WEBSITE: Did you know? The pew sheet is uploaded onto our website each Friday. Most of the sermons are also uploaded weekly. Why not take a peak!

Pew Sheet Deadline: Please ensure notices for the pew sheet are in the office by 5pm on Wednesday. Thank you!

Child Safe: We take children’s safety seriously at St Paul’s. If you have any concerns as to the safety of a child in the parish please see Susanne or one of the wardens; Andrew Flint, Jeremy Bishop and Liz Olie.
