Dear Parishioners: I want to begin by saying a word of thanks to my friend and brother Fr. Yvon Tremont. As we say our goodbyes and wish him

our love, support, and our prayers in his new assignment… at the same time, we are also grateful. I'm extremely thankful for all of the hard work and dedication he gave to the development of the Haitian Community here at the National Shrine of St. John Neumann. He worked hard to establish a small choir, to create a leadership team, and orchestrated a fund raising raffle that would pay for musical instruments for them to use during Mass and worship. Fr. Yvon is one that will encounter you with a smile in quiet & gentle presence. His soft voice assures you of his kindness and compassion. In his ministry and preaching you can easily see his great love for Christ and his deep commitment to sharing the Gospel with God’s people. He has a beautiful spirit of willingness and generosity that many of you have experienced in the confessional or at Mass from the pulpit. It is my prayer that the gift that we have received in Fr. Yvon will be very much appreciate by the parishioners in St. Lucia who will now receive him. There can be much ugliness, competition, and aggression in our daily lives, but Fr. Yvon would always usher in a most welcomed change. That wonderful sense of peaceful presence - that is so evident in his personal character - will be greatly missed. Go with God, Yvon, and always with our prayers and best wishes! Remember to swing by and hang out with your brothers and parishioners and swap stories of your new adventure! Secondly, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to our German volunteer, Christoph Siepen. The quality of his presence too was another gift and blessing. He worked hard with Sr. Rose, as well as the faculty and staff, to help our school children and tutor them and recreate with them in the after-school program. Since he is quick to smile at he drop of a hat, he tends to light up the room with his smiling face as soon as he walks in. Eager to help and be of assistance, he has been there for us whenever we needed him, with no questions asked. He has a strong work-ethic and will not stop until the job is finished. The generosity of his time and talent have been a God-send. Never a complaint. Nothing ever too much. From helping us with parish events, religious holidays, stacking supplies, trimming shrubs or trees, setting up tables, taking out trash, helping with shopping… he would eagerly respond in 5 minutes with that trademark friendly smile of his. Please join them in the Cont’d p.2

¡Bienvenida Hermana!
