THIS SUMMER!

rehearse the play, learning their lines, music and

choreography. On Saturday, June 25th, the public is

invited to attend the play and celebrate the fruit of their

labor. Participation for the children is free of charge and

a modest ticket price will be charged to attend the play.

Audition information will available in April and you can

call the Arts Council at 276-238-1217 for details.

SOUP in a BOWL

WATER and a ROLL

Join us in helping fight hunger in

the Twin Counties!

This March, the Arts Council is proud to sponsor Empty Bowls events in Hillsville,

Galax & Independence. These events would not be possible without our partners:

the Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, Old Town Pottery, Carroll County High School

Interact Club, the Ministerial Associations of Carroll & Grayson Counties, First Inde-

pendence United Methodist Church, First Methodist Church of Hillsville, First Baptist

Church of Galax, Shoney’s Restaurant and area potters, restaurants and individuals.

Empty Bowls is grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple:

Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to

create hand crafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In

exchange for a $10 donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all

the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to local organizations

working to end hunger and food insecurity.

This year the City Councils of Galax & Hillsville and the Carroll County Board of

Supervisors have proclaimed March 24th and March 30th to be EMPTY BOWLS DAY

in their respective communities.

Please join us at one of the Empty Bowls events in your town!
