Below are descriptions of some of the courses found in Starfl eet Academy’s ever-growing curriculum

INSTITUTE OF LEADERSHIP STUDIESOTS - Offi cer’s Training SchoolDesigned to help develop a student’s working knowledge of STARFLEET International, its offi ces, and services. Prepares a student to become a commissioned offi cer, required for all Commanding Offi cers and Executive Offi cers of individual chapters.

OCC - Offi cer’s Command CollegeRequired for all ship captains and fi rst offi cers, this course uses a manual as well as the membership handbook. It is designed to give insight into effective leadership. (OTS is a prerequisite for this course)

FOS - Flag Offi cer’s School (3 courses)This series of courses is designed to expand a students leadership skillset. (OTS and OCC are prerequisites for this series)

SOA - School of AccessabilityDesigned to develop better understanding/sensitivity toward persons with physical, mental, and/or psychological challenges, and how they may relate to participation within Starfl eet.

SOR - School of RecruitingExplores suggestions on how a member of Starfl eet may participate in efforts to increase membership, as well as address ways to retain memberships already active within Starfl eet.

ISOC - Internet School of Online ChatMembers of STARFLEET International have an online chat forum using IRC (Internet Relay Chat) This course is designed to introduce to a student the fundamentals of how to use this medium for communication

INSTITUTE OF ARTSCAHC - College of Alien History and Culture (14 courses)Designed to provide students with a fun way to learn about different Trek cultures. Courses include Federation, Romulan, Klingon, Vulcan, Trill, Borg, Ferengi, Bajoran, Cardassian, and Miscellaneous Worlds.

DQS - School of Delta Quadrant StudiesLearn about alien races discovered in the Delta Quadrant

COC - College of Communicaitons (4 courses)Students will learn the fundamentals of creating Newsletters, fl yers, promotional materials, which will help them present a professional appearance for their chapters. Courses include the Main Course, Newsletters, Interspecies Communicaiton, and Basic Web Design.

COH - College of History (3 courses)Covers topics in real Earth history, as well as Star Trek Universe history

COLA - College of Liberal Arts (23 courses)Cvering a broad spectrum of Star Trek related topics, ranging from the School of Music, to Trek Romance, touching on Unusual Knowledge, and Humor in Star Trek, to name a few.COFS- College of Federation Studies (20 Courses)6 tests are dedicated to the History of the Enterprise (NCC-1701), 6 tests explore Federa-tion Law, and an additional 8 tests focus on special Federation Studies.

SOL - School of LiteratureThe purpose of this series is to familiarize students with common literary devices and terminology. Students who complete this course shoud be able to recognize devices used by authors in books, television episodes, and fi lm.

COMS - College of Mythological StudiesTouches on many of the ancient myths and belief systems found in the different cultures and societies of Earth. Also includes a look at mythology of other planets, like Bajor.

INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYSOBT - School of Borg TechnologyThere’s more to ‘cubism’ than impressionist painting when it comes to exploring this cyber-netically enhanced race. This school looks at the collective hand explores what it means to be Borg.

COCH - College of Computer History(3 courses)Courses include a History of developments in Computer technology, Modern computers, and a look at Artifi cial Life vs. Organic Intelligence

SOE - School of EngineeringFour offerings: Basic Engineering (pre-requisite for all other SOE course offerings) Ad-vanced Engineering, Basic Support Services Technology, and Advanced Support Services Technology

SACOM - Starfl eet Academy School of MedicineOne of the largest schools on the Academy Campus. The School of Medicine features 5 basic courses, with over 15 advanced courses. Access to the World Book Encyclopedia is strongly suggested for taking this series

SORS - Starfl eet Offi cers Radio School (3 courses)Bachelor’s level: History of Radio Exam - Space Station Communications Permit (Trek) Master’s Level: Broadcast Radio Exam - Starship Communications Console Operator’s Permit (Trek); Doctoral Level: Amateur (Ham) Radio Studies

COTP - College of Temporal Physics (4 courses)Courses include a Basics of Temporal Physics Exam, A Temporal Agent’s survival guide, Temporal Theory, and an essay on time travel.

COTAC - College of Trade and CommerceTo quote the Ferengi, do you think you have the lobes for business? Let’s fi nd out. In addi-tion to exploring fi nances in the fi nal frontier, this series looks at how you may best handle fi nances for your chapter.

VAS - Vulcan Academy of Science (15 courses, over 40 electives)In addition to exploring the sciences of the Trek universe, this series looks at the real sci-ences of the world around us, Expanding your general knowledge across several fi elds of scientifi c study.

INSTITUTE OF MILITARY STUDIESKWA - Klingon Warrior Academy Warrior Apprentice Exams, Warrior Journeyman Exams, and WarriorCraftsmen Exams. Master them all, and you may earn the honor of taking the Fourth and fi nal Exam.

TGA - The Gorn Academy (3 Courses)Explore the history, culture, military, economy, etc. of the Gorn Alliance.

SOST - School of Strategy and Tactics (4 courses) Covers Basic strategy and tactics with a review of historical fi gures, battles and events. Applies usage in the Trek Universe in both Ship-to-ship and Fleet actions

COSS - College of Survival Studies (3 courses)Basic introduces the requirements for human survival in hostile environments; Mapping teaches elementary 2-D and 3-D mapping and navigation; Survival analyzes the use of emergency procedures by the different Star Trek crews

SASS - STARFLEET Academy Security SchoolCourses include Basic Security, Intermediate School, Convention Security Offi cer’s Course, and Early Law Enforcement History.
