NM STATE DIRECTOR’S WELCOME LETTER

June 6, 2015

Dear Members and Guests:

It is with great pleasure to welcome all of you to our 2015 State Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I would

like to extend my utmost gratitude to our hosting council 8057 and council advisors Dr. Lawrence Roybal and

Dr. Jennifer Gomez-Chavez. They have worked diligently to provide a wonderful program filled with informative

panels, workshops, entertainment, and coordinated all of the events. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the

success of this convention to honor our community leaders and membership at large.

Council 8057 is a colligate council at the University of New Mexico. I had the honor and privilege of being a

member of this council throughout my college career. Together we worked as LULAC family to raise awareness on a

multitude of issues, which included education and civil rights. We worked as a team to organize community service

projects and I certainly cannot forgot how we helped each other through our educational journeys. This camaraderie

continues to flourish with the help of our advisors and senior members through membership expansion and the

continued drive to make positive changes within our community.

LULAC New Mexico has achieved many milestones throughout our state history. It is beautiful to see that it

continued to grow and strive to positively influence the betterment of our community. I hope you all enjoy the

convention and take the opportunity to voice your opinions as we come together to craft our platform for the year to

come.

Sincerely,

Jessica Inéz Martínez
