Christ the King "Hail the King of the Jews." The kingship of Christ has always been different than the world expected. Many of Jesus' disciples hoped for an earthly Messiah who would overthrow the Romans. But, as Jesus says in today's Gospel, his kingdom is "not of this world." And yet it is a very real kingdom. Jesus is a very real Lord. And we are called to invite Jesus to be king of our lives. In the early 20th century, disillusionment with authority of all kinds was growing. Revolutions, atheistic thinkers, and World War I contributed to a rejection of faith. In 1925, Pope Pius XI called the Church and the world back to a sense of hope in Christ. He instituted the solemnity of Christ the King on the last Sunday before Advent. How is Jesus king of your life today? Excerpt from LPI

***Christmas Angel Tree Gift Drive***

The Christmas Angel Tree will be standing in the Main Entrance Hall of St. Bernard’s Church from Saturday, December 1 through Sunday, December 9.

Each Christmas Angel bears the name, age, gender, and gift requests of a child. This year the children are from our own Parish; the inner city Phoenix Parishes of St. Catherine of Sienna, St. Mark, and St. Martin de Porres; and Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Aguila, AZ.

Please take an Angel tag and try to match the description of the child and the gift(s) as best as you can.

All gifts should be returned wrapped and with the Christmas Angel securely attached.

We will collect the gifts at each Mass the weekend of December 15 and 16, 2017. Thank you on behalf of all the children you are helping during this season of sharing.
