TERMS OF USEWhat can I do with these materials?Purchasing this game gives the right to the individual purchaser to use and modify this game template in class. The teacher that purchased them may use them in class and make copies for students as needed. He or she is legally allowed to use them every year, in any school in which he or she teaches. The rights to use the plans belong to the purchaser for personal and classroom use.
What can I NOT do with these materials?• You may NOT share this game template or games that you create with it with other teachers. If
other teachers in your department wish to use these lesson plans, you may purchase an additional license for the plans on TpT. Once you have purchased the lesson plans once at full price, you can purchase an infinite number of additional licenses at half cost so that your entire department can use the plans at a reduced cost.
• You may NOT pass on games that you create using this template to another teacher once you are done using them. For example, if you purchase this game template while teaching Spanish 1 and create a game for a unit that you teach, but another teacher takes over Spanish 1 classes in the following school year, that teacher would need to purchase an additional license in order to be able to use the game that you created with his or her students.
• You may NOT post this game template or games that you create with it online for students to access. The only exception would be if they are in a password-protected area, in which students can only access them by entering a password. Otherwise, anyone on the Internet can access them as well.
In sum, ONLY the individual that purchased this game template may use it in either its original or in its modified form.
What if the plans were purchased by a department, not an individual?If a department or school purchases this game template, then that entity must purchase one full-price product for the first teacher that will be using them plus an additional license for each additional teacher within the department that will be using them. For example:
In 2014-2015, Mrs. Peabody teaches fifth grade at Great Start Elementary. The school purchases the game template for Mrs. Peabody at full price.In 2015-2016, Mr. Clark, who is another fifth grade teacher at Great Start, wants to use the template. The school purchases an additional license for Mr. Clark at half price.In 2016-2017, Mr. Clark moves to a new school. He may no longer use the template at his new school, because the template license belongs to Great Start, not to him. Ms. Black replaces Mr. Clark, and she is allowed to use the game tempate because the school owns two licenses total.In 2017-2018, Mrs. Apple wants to use the template as well. The school purchases an additional license so that Mrs. Peabody, Ms. Black, and Mrs. Apple (3 teachers total) can all use the game.

After four decades of research in the area of second language acquisition, it is clear that language is acquired not from practice (drills), but from consistent and constant exposure to input. Input is indispensable to language acquisition; meaning that language cannot be acquired without it. The internal structure of language consists of phrases, not “rules”, and grammar is stored within words. Inside our heads, there is a giant, complex web that connects lexical features between words and phrases. This is our mental representation of language! When there are errors in students’ production (writing and speaking), it is evidence that there are holes, or missing links, in their mental representations of the language. Those holes are filled by input: students‘ minds will process the input and extract the patterns needed to complete their mental representations. For this reason, the most effective way to “teach” grammar is through input (reading and listening). Therefore, any grammar plans that I create and use will first and foremost provide INPUT to your students: concentrated, contextualized instances of the construction(s) that I want to target. You may choose to use the explicit, fill-in notes so that your high aptitude students can learn the rules and apply them, but I do not recommend spending much time on them, nor do I recommend spending class time on grammar drills. Instead, find ways to provide your students with input that contains instances of the construction that you want/need to teach. If you still desire to do traditional practice or are required to, your students will be well-prepared to complete it successfully because they will have a basic mental representation from which to draw.
INSTRUCTIONS:1. Read and discuss Leticia’s biography. Use key TPRS®/CI strategies like circling,
checking for comprehension, and personalizing (see http://martinabex.com/teacher-training/essential-strategies-for-tprsci-teachers/ for more info). As you personalize it, ask questions like «¿Tú almuerzas arroz con pollo?», «¿Tú puedes hacer algo que es difícil para otras personas?». Use students’ responses and your own to get in many repetitions of NOSOTROS and USTEDES forms.
2. Have students respond to the T/F questions at the bottom of the page, then review answers.
3. Give students fill-in notes (Page 7 is partially filled in for absent students).4. Have students complete the communicative activity on Pages 9-10.5. Before the next class, type up some of students’ statements from Page 10. Show them
to the class one at a time and have the class guess who wrote each statement. This will get in still more repetitions of the different forms of o-ue stem change verbs!!

Leticia Bufoni es una skater profesional de Brasil. Ahora, ella reside en los
Estados Unidos. Leticia puede hablar portugués, el idioma oficial de Brasil, y
puede hablar inglés. Ella no puede hablar español pero no es un problema porque
no se habla español en Brasil; se habla portugués. Leticia es una skater notable
porque es muy talentosa pero también porque ella es una mujer. ¡No se
encuentran muchas mujeres en las competencias profesionales de skateboarding!
Para hacer skateboarding profesional, Leticia tiene que entrenar1 mucho porque el skateboarding es muy
