McClain Laboratories (Montreaux II – III)

Hands- On Biopsy Workshop: Why Podiatrists Should Biopsy More Frequently

Steven McClain, MDPodiatrists do not biopsy often enough, a risky practice in our opinion. Skin biopsy under local anesthetic, readily done in the podiatrist’s office and sent to a pathologist for microscopic diagnosis, is the preferred method. We will explore common skin disorders and diseases of the leg and foot. Clinical implications for biopsy, as well as the risks and advantages for these biopsy techniques will also be discussed. Participants will practice punch and shave biopsy techniques on pig skin.

Saorsa (Montreaux I)

Swift Workshop: Harnessing the Power of Microwaves

Alec Hochstein, DPM, FASPSGet up close and personal with Swift, the revolutionary immune therapy that uses low dose microwave energy to target the HPV virus. Warts have long been a problem lacking in effective and reliable treatment options. With over 50,000 treatments now delivered globally with efficacy of 80+%, Swift is setting a new standard. Facilitated by Alec Hochstein and the people at Saorsa. Attend this workshop to learn how Swift innovation can impact your practice.

Summary of Indications for Use: The EXOGEN Ultrasound Bone Healing System is indicated for the non-invasive treatment of established nonunions* excluding skull and vertebra. In addition, EXOGEN is indicated for accelerating the time to a healed fracture for fresh, closed, posteriorly displaced distal radius fractures and fresh, closed or Grade I open tibial diaphysis fractures in skeletally mature individuals when these fractures are orthopaedically managed by closed reduction and cast immobilization.

There are no known contraindications for the EXOGEN device. Safety and effectiveness have not been established for individuals lacking skeletal maturity, pregnant or nursing women, patients with cardiac pacemakers, on fractures due to bone cancer, or on patients with poor blood circulation or clotting problems. Some patients may be sensitive to the ultrasound gel. Full prescribing information can be found in product labeling, at www.exogen.com, or by calling customer service at 1-800-836-4080.

* A non-union is considered to be established when the fracture site shows no visibly progressive signs of healing.
