Advanced Email setup on Windows PC v1.0 (Eng).doc ©2012 Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Ltd, All Rights Reserved Page 1 of 25 Steps for Advanced Email Setup on Outlook Express 6: Advanced Email supports traditional POP3/SMTP email protocol as well as advance IMAP sync protocol, also works with smart mobile devices (e.g. Android/iOS devices, etc.) using ActiveSync protocol as well as POP3/SMTP protocol. It also supports SMTP authentication so that users could enjoy email sending even on roaming. Note: Users are free to choose ActiveSync or traditional POP3/SMTP protocol on Android/iOS smart devices. The differences between SMTP and SMTP authentication: - Plain SMTP can be used when you connecting on Biznetvigator network only. Our SMTP server will reject email sending request if it comes from IP outside Biznetvigator network. - SMTP authentication means verify your name and password before accepting the email sending request, so SMTP authentication allows email sending from any IP. The differences between POP3 and IMAP: - POP3 is plain old email protocol which downloads all emails from server to your client software (of course user can choose to keep email on server after download or clean up emails on server after download), if you set the client to delete all mails after download, then you are not able see those deleted emails over Web interface or mobile devices using ActiveSync protocol. - IMAP is a synchronization protocol which could synchronize the inbox and sent items box emails with the Advanced Email server like ActiveSync on mobile devices. Please pay attention that IMAP will delete the mail(s) on server only when you delete them on your client or over Web interface, therefore you have to manage your mail before your mailbox is full. Recommendation: - If you need to send email when you are using other internet service provider other than Biznetvigator, it is suggested to use SMTP with authentication in your email client so that it works when you are using Biznetvigator or other networks. - If you have multiple devices for handling your email, it would be more convenient to use IMAP instead of POP3 due to the synchronization features of IMAP. Of course need to pay attention to your mailbox usage level.

Steps for Advanced Email Setup on Outlook Express 6: Advanced Email supports traditional POP3/SMTP email protocol as well as advance IMAP sync protocol, also works with smart mobile devices (e.g. Android/iOS devices, etc.) using ActiveSync protocol as well as POP3/SMTP protocol. It also supports SMTP authentication so that users could enjoy email sending even on roaming. Note: Users are free to choose ActiveSync or traditional POP3/SMTP protocol on Android/iOS

smart devices. The differences between SMTP and SMTP authentication:

- Plain SMTP can be used when you connecting on Biznetvigator network only. Our SMTP server will reject email sending request if it comes from IP outside Biznetvigator network.

- SMTP authentication means verify your name and password before accepting the email sending request, so SMTP authentication allows email sending from any IP.

The differences between POP3 and IMAP:

- POP3 is plain old email protocol which downloads all emails from server to your client software (of course user can choose to keep email on server after download or clean up emails on server after download), if you set the client to delete all mails after download, then you are not able see those deleted emails over Web interface or mobile devices using ActiveSync protocol.

Recommendation:

- If you need to send email when you are using other internet service provider other than Biznetvigator, it is suggested to use SMTP with authentication in your email client so that it works when you are using Biznetvigator or other networks.

- If you have multiple devices for handling your email, it would be more convenient to use IMAP instead of POP3 due to the synchronization features of IMAP. Of course need to pay attention to your mailbox usage level.
