Welcome to today’s livestreamed Sunday Parish MassWe sing the praise of him who died,Of him who died upon the Cross; The sinner's hope let men deride,For this we count the world but loss.

Inscribed upon the Cross we seeIn shining letters, 'God is love';He bears our sins upon the Tree;He brings us mercy from above.

The Cross! it takes our guilt away;It holds the fainting spirit up;It cheers with hope the gloomy day,And sweetens ev'ry bitter cup.

It makes the coward spirit brave,And nerves the feeble arm for fight;It takes its terror from the grave,And gilds the bed of death with light;

The balm of life, the cure of woe,The measure and the pledge of love,The sinner's refuge here below,The angels' theme in heaven above.

Words: Thomas Kelly (1769-1855)In the name of the Father, and of the Son,and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with youand also with you

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE AND FORGIVENESSThe sacrifice of God is a broken spirit;a broken and contrite heart God will not despise.Let us come to the Lord, who is full of compassion,

and acknowledge our transgressions in penitence and faith. The people kneel (or sit) and a period of silent reflection is kept

Wash me thoroughly from my wickednessand cleanse me from my sin:Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.Make me a clean heart, O God,and renew a right spirit within me:Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.Cast me not away from your presenceand take not your holy spirit from me:Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

May Almighty God forgive you your sins and bring you to everlasting life through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT The Priest introduces a short period of silent prayer with the wordsLet us pray

O God, author of every mercy and of all goodness, who in fasting, prayer and almsgivinghave shown us a remedy for sin, look graciously on this confession of our lowliness, that we, who are bowed down by our conscience, may always be lifted up by your mercy.Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SERMON After which silence is keptTHE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father;God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit

he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

THE PRAYERSThese words may be used:

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.or Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

The following may be added:We join our prayers with those of Our Lady, consoler of the afflicted, as we greet her and say:Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women

The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

Heaven and earth, and all creation,Laud and magnify his name!

Worship, honour, glory, blessing,Lord, we offer to thy name;Young and old, thy praise expressing,Join their Saviour to proclaim. As the saints in heaven adore thee,We would bow before thy throne; As thine angels serve before thee,So on earth thy will be done.

OFFERTORY PRAYERS

Pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty FatherMay the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His Name, for our good, and the good of all His Church.

Be pleased, O Lord, with these sacrificial offerings, and grant that we who beseech pardon for our own sins, may take care to forgive our neighbour.Through Christ our Lord.Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

The Lord be with youAnd also with youLift up your heartsWe lift them to the LordLet us give thanks to the Lord our GodIt is right to give him thanks and praise

All kneel or sit It is indeed right and good to give you thanks and praise, almighty God and everlasting Father, through Jesus Christ your Son.For in these forty days you lead us into the desert of repentancethat through a pilgrimage of prayer and disciplinewe may grow in grace and learn to be your people once again.

Through fasting, prayer and acts of serviceyou bring us back to your generous heart.Through study of your holy wordyou open our eyes to your presence in the worldand free our hands to welcome othersinto the radiant splendour of your love.

As we prepare to celebrate the Easter feastwith joyful hearts and mindswe bless you for your mercyand join with saints and angels for ever praising you and saying:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.

Lord, you are holy indeed, the source of all holiness; grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit, and according to your holy will, these gifts of bread and wine may become the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ;

who in the same night that he was betrayed,8

took bread and gave you thanks;

he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE, EAT; THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU; DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks; he gave it to them, saying:

DRINK THIS, ALL OF YOU; THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, WHICH IS SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANYFOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS, AS OFTEN AS YOU DRINK IT,IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

Great is the mystery of faithChrist has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

And so, Father, calling to mind his death on the cross, his perfect sacrifice made once for the sins of the whole world; rejoicing in his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming in glory, we celebrate this memorial of our redemption. As we bring before you this bread and this cup, we offer you this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving and we thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.

Lord, may this sacrifice, which has made our peace with you, advance the peace and salvation of all the world.Strengthen in faith your pilgrim Church on earth;your servant Jonathan our bishop, and all the bishops.

Welcome into your kingdom our departed brothers and sisters, and all who have left this world in your friendship. Send the Holy Spirit on your people and gather into one in your kingdom all who share this one bread and one cup, so that we, in the company of Holy Mary, Mother of God, of James, Simon & Jude, and all the saints, may praise and glorify you for ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord;by whom, and with whom, and in whom,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever. Amen.

As our Saviour Christ commanded and taught, together we pray:Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us.and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

We break this bread to share in the body of Christthough we are many we are one body,

THE INVITATIONBehold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper.Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,but only say the word and I shall be healed.

The Body of Christ Amen! The Blood of Christ Amen!

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION FOR THOSE AT HOME

Spiritual Communion is a Christian practice of desiring union with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. It is used as a preparation for Mass and by individuals who cannot receive Holy Communion.

Say the following prayerfully and quietly before saying the Prayer for Spiritual Communion:

Jesus my Lord, I thee adore, O make me love thee more and more.

Come to my heart Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for thee.

A deep silence is kept

Soon as the evening shades prevailThe moon takes up the wondrous tale,And nightly to the listening earthRepeats the story of her birth;Whilst all the stars that round her burn,And all the planets in their turn,Confirm the tidings, as they roll,And spread the truth from pole to pole.

What though in solemn silence allMove round this dark terrestrial ball; What though nor real voice nor soundAmid their radiant orbs be found; In reason's ear they all rejoice,And utter forth a glorious voice; For ever singing as they shine,'The hand that made us is divine.'

Words: Joseph Addison (1672-1719)As we receive the pledgeof things yet hidden in heavenand are nourished while still on earthwith the Bread that comes from on high,we humbly entreat you, O Lord, that what is being brought about in us in mysterymay come to true completion.Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord our God,grant us grace to desire you with our whole heart;that so desiring, we may seek and find you;and so finding, may love you;and so loving, may hate those sinsfrom which you have delivered us;through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
