Play is the work of the soul. We are called upon to engage in wonder, imagination, and creativity. Play has no goal. It has no end in sight. It is enjoyed for the sake of itself.

Decrease pain. Increase pleasure.

At the end of the day….

Or…..

Page 62: Stress in the 21st Century

Spirituality

• We are not humans on a spiritual path. Rather, we are spirits on a human path.

Page 63: Stress in the 21st Century

AGELESS WISDOM

• Stress and spirituality are inseparable partners in the dance of life.

• As global stress increases, there is a greater need to reestablish this connection.

Page 64: Stress in the 21st Century

Resilience

And see how the flesh grows back across a wound with great vehemence, more strong than the simple untested surface before. There is a name for it on horses. It’s called “proud flesh.”

--Jean Hirschfield

Physiology of Humor

Page 66: Stress in the 21st Century

Positive affirmations….

• When you wish upon a star, dreams do really come true. Unless the star you wished upon is actually a meteor hurdling toward earth about to destroy all life on the planet. Then you’re pretty much hosed no matter what you wished for, unless it happened to be death by meteor!

Page 67: Stress in the 21st Century

Homeostasis….

• Let’s face it…we’re all going to die. All those health fanatics are sure going to be embarrassed someday when they’re in the hospital dying of nothing.

--Redd Foxx

Page 68: Stress in the 21st Century

Is…..

• I signed up for an exercise class and I was told to wear loose fitting clothes. If I had any loose fitting clothes I wouldn’t need to sign up for an exercise class.

Page 69: Stress in the 21st Century

BALANCE

• I found the perfect diet…if it tastes good….spit it out!

Page 70: Stress in the 21st Century

The Truth:

Each of us has a reason to be here and each of us has the ability to change the world with small acts of kindness, endless compassion for ourselves and others.

What will you do to change the world today?

Spend more time valuing who you are rather than who you think you should be .

Live in the culture but don’t live by it’s values.

Change the world from within yourself.

Page 71: Stress in the 21st Century

Are you enlightened?

1.If you can wake up happy everyday even if you have aches and pains.

2.If you can treat everyone kindly even if they are unkind to you.

3.If you can forgive loved ones for often leaving you out.

4.If you can take criticism even when you are just trying to be yourself.

5. If you can play hard and sleep hard ; not worrying about tomorrow or ruminating about yesterday.

Page 72: Stress in the 21st Century

Then you’re half as enlightened as your dog!

Page 73: Stress in the 21st Century

THANKS FOR COMING

Healing

• I believe the disastrous condition of our world mirrors our own fear and anger. We endanger the planet and one another. In order to heal the planet, we must each heal ourselves. We must love ourselves, love others and love the earth. Each act of loving-kindness, each parcel of compassion, each prayer, increases the ratio of love to anger. What are you doing to save the world today?
