Introduction To The Topic:
Srinagar the summer capital of IndianOccupied Kashmir, is one of the mostpicturesque cities of the world. Being atthe centre of Kashmir valley, it is themajor attraction of Kashmir valley. Itlies at 34 N Latitude and 75 NLongitude, at a height of 1783 metresabove the sea level. The city hasdistinctly a twin city character,congested old parts to the north, andthe new extensions in the south andwest side.

Road Transport Network of the City:
Road transport network of the city is as complex as any old historical city. It is a combination of spontaneous, unplanned and busy roads in the old city and the new planned roads in the new extensions of the city.
The city has grown along the banks of river Jhelum, which swirls through the heart of the Srinagar city.
Road Transport Network of the City:
Jhelum has been the main life giving source of the city. The architectural character of the city has developed along the banks of Jhelum, giving it a unique character. And thus developed the road network along the outer circle of the river and the buildings.
Also with time, a number of bridges came up connecting the two sides of the city, across the river.
Objective Of The Study :
The research will mainly aim at coveringthe following aspects:
The aim of the study is to review andevaluate the road network of Srinagarcity by using space syntax.
To model the movement system usingthe Axman Application and thenexamine the syntactic properties of thecity centre.
Analyse and identify the problemsectors, and in the end give proposalsand suggestions for improving theoverall transport scenario.
