Carefrontation Strategies:
• Carefront in private, not in public
• Remember non-verbal communication: body language, posture
• Provide timely feedback
• Control your emotions – carefronting is not an attack
• Give feedback using “I” statements
• Include specific actions or behaviors
• Propose a solution
• Ask for a commitment to change
“I” Statements
Three parts to the “I” statement:
1) Behavior 2) Feelings 3) Effect
Example: You’re always late!
Practice with these statements: 1. You always interrupt me when I’m talking
2. You don’t care about my feelings
3. You never tell me anything
