In total, the three summer convenings attracted 100 Hoosier teens and 66 of their mentors. These inspiring people connected with peers and dug into topics of grantmaking, community partnerships, equity, and inclusion. Teambuilding exercises were also a huge part of Better Together. Learn More > Diversity & Youth Philanthropy: Three Case Studies Diversity is certainly a hot topic in the field of philanthropy. Many foundations and youth councils are ramping up efforts to include students who previously may not have participated due to concerns such as distance, transportation, or lack of awareness. During YPII's July webinar, Discovering & Engaging Diverse Philanthropic Youth, Brea Reimer-Baum of Youth Philanthropy Connect, presented three case studies of programs working intentionally to bring diverse youth to the table: North Carolina- Youth Giving Minnesota- Shock & Awe California- Youth Funding Youth Ideas These groups have found ways to overcome barriers and increase participation of diverse youth in their programs, often through simple and creative measures.
