The Placement Committee of IIM Shillong takes immense pride in announcing the successful completion of the Summer Placement season for the PGP batch of 2019-21. The stellar performance by the PGP participants stands testimony to the rapid progress made by IIM Shillong and has once again established IIM Shillong as the preferred choice for recruiters.

We express our gratitude to our regular recruiters who have continuously believed in the mettle of our students and have furthered their association with us for another year to facilitate this mutually beneficial relationship. We are also grateful to our new recruiters, who have acknowledged the potential of our students and provided them with a plethora of opportunities.

OVERVIEW:

The Summer Internship Placement process for the academic year 2019-20 has once again affirmed the faith and confidence of the industry in the students of IIM Shillong. The placement season saw participation from a total of 68 recruiters, and 208 offers were made to the participants in various domains such as Consulting & Strategy, Finance, Human Resources & Operations, IT & Analytics, and Sales & Marketing.

IIM Shillong hosted some of the biggest names in the industry, including the likes of AB InBev, Aditya Birla Group, Bajaj Finserv, Cognizant, D.E. Shaw, Droom, Emami Group, Fidelity

Investments, Goldman Sachs, Google, GroupM, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, ITC, MetLife, Muthoot Fincorp, Nomura Investment Bank, Pidilite Industries, TATA Steel, Titan, UB Group, ValueLabs, and Yes Bank as prominent regular recruiters.

The institute also witnessed participation of several first-time recruiters including ABFRL, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Dalmia Cement, Deloitte India, Future Generali, IBM, Niine, Ninjacart, OLA, Pepsico, Qwixpert, Raam Group, Reliance Industries Limited, TATA Power, TresVista, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, and Zenoti.

SALES & MARKETINGSales & Marketing continued to be the most sought-after domain, accounting for 33% of the total offers received. Recruiters such as Droom, Emami, Google, GroupM, ITC, Pidilite Industries, TATA Steel, Titan, and UB Group continued to bestow their faith in the acumen of the participants and recruited in large numbers. Dalmia Cement, Dr. Vaidya’s, Emami Agrotech, Inyt Technologies, Jaro Education, Kreativ Street, Niine, Ninjacart, Pepsico, Raam Group, TATA Power, Teabox, The Tea Shelf, and Zrupee were amongst the first-time recruiters. Emami Agrotech, Pidilite Industries, and TATA Steel made the highest number of offers.

Consulting & Strategy domain observed an increased participation from the recruiters, with a 31% increase in the number of offers made and a 50% increase in the highest stipend offered. Various roles offered included Advisory, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Product Management, and Program Manager. Cognizant Business Consulting, Datawise, Droom, and Zaggle continued their association with the institute, offering coveted profiles to students, whereas first-time recruiters included Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte India, Easy Policy, Future Generali, Innolabz Ventures, Inyt Technologies, Lifelong Retail, OLA, Pay1, Qwixpert, ReleaseMyAd, and Tavaga. Bain & Company made the highest number of offers in this domain.

FinanceIIM Shillong has always been a preferred campus for recruiters offering roles in the Finance domain. 17% of the participants received offers in roles such as Corporate & Institutional Banking, Equity Research, Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Retail Banking amongst others. ABFRL, D.E. Shaw, Samunnati, ShopKirana, TresVista, and Vivriti Capital partnered with the institution for the first time. Our regular recruiters such as Bajaj Finserv, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, Nomura Investment Bank, and Yes Bank continued to recruit in large numbers. Goldman Sachs made the highest number of offers in this domain.

GENERAL MANAGEMENTProminent Recruiters The General Management domain observed increased

participation from recruiters including AB InBev, Aditya Birla Group, MetLife, and Muthoot Fincorp from various sectors such as BFSI, Conglomerate, FMCG, and Retail. Reliance Industries Limited and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank were among the first-time recruiters. The domain witnessed a 100% increase in the number of offers made and a 25% increase in the highest stipend offered.

Human Resources & OperationsHuman Resources & Operations domain witnessed participation from distinguished companies like D.E. Shaw, Droom, Reliance Industries Limited, TATA Steel, and Titan who maintained their alliance with the institution and offered prominent roles. ABFRL, Go4Fresh, Inyt Technologies spanning across Conglomerate, E-Commerce, Retail and Technology, and Media & Telecommunication sectors visited for campus placements for the first time.
