SILICON VALLEY

ABOUT THE COVER Regarded as the birth of Silicon Valley, the Hewlett Packard

Garage has been designated a California Historical Landmark

and is listed on the United States National Register of Historic

Places. In 1938, 25-year-old David Packard met with

William Hewlett at the garage with $538 USD in capital. One

year later, after a coin toss, they named and created their

company Hewlett-Packard. Their first product was the

HP200A audio oscillator (created in the garage) and one of

their first clients was the Walt Disney Company.
