Summer Breeze is sure to make your livestock feel fine! This mix of BMR
sorghum sudans and the Iron and Clay Cowpea offers forage that is higher
quality than warm-season perennials and can offer livestock a break from
the hot, endophyte-infected KY-31 fescue.
AS6401 is an extremely disease resistant sorghum sudan, while AS6501 is a
photoperiod sensitive sorghum sudan. This photoperiod sensitivity keeps
the plant from producing a seed head until later in the summer when the
days start to get shorter. The combination of these two varieties provides a
dense sward of high-quality grazing all summer long.
Iron and Clay Cowpeas pair very well with sorghum sudan. As the grasses
get tall, the cowpea will vine up the plant towards sunlight. Cowpeas help
boost the crude protein and digestibility, which makes this mixture ideal for
fattening livestock and growing young stock.
