Download an order form from the website or contact Marianne on 01209418127 TAMAR LAY DOMINICAN LIGHT A CANDLE EVENT The Tamar Lay Dominican fraternity have in previous years during Advent held a “Light a Candle event at Christ the King in Plymouth. Unfortunately, due to the Pandemic we are unable to invite people to attend the event. Instead we would like to invite parishioners if they so wish to send us any prayer requests that they have. Members fo the fraternity will meet via Zoom at 7p.m. on each of the 3 Thursdays of advent. We will light a candle and pray the prayers we receive. On July 7 the Holy Father is bringing together the leaders of the Churches of the Middle East in Bari, Italy. “Pray with me, that they may experience the support of all the Churches and communities, through prayer and material assistance.” In the lead-up to this meeting, Aleteia is answering the pope’s call. As people of faith, we know there is genuine power in prayer, but there is something uniquely powerful and uplifting about

CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S SOCIETY PLYMOUTH – SLEEP ON THE FLOOR FOR A NIGHT It may be hard to believe that in this day and age, there are children who do not have a warm and comfy bed to sleep in every night. In fact, one in five children living in the South West are living in poverty. As part of our Good Shepard programme, this Christmas CCSP is asking children living in the Diocese to think of those children less fortunate than them and give up their bed for one night to sleep on the floor. Both children and adults are asked to support this sponsored event. If 100 people could each raise £10 in sponsorship money, CCSP could buy beds and mattresses for 10 children so they never have to sleep on the floor again. We are linking with groups interested in Justice and Peace to share Catholic Social Teaching.
