CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS 

Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God,the creator of wind and rain, field and ocean,

the bread of life coming down from above,the power at work within us and this world.

C: Amen.

 For the sake of those we harm and for those who

harm us, we confess our sins before God and one another.

Lord of the law and the gospel, C: Although we do not intend it, too often we walk

in the ways of the wicked. We take the path that sinners tread and sit in the seat of the scoffers. Plant us beside the streams of your nourishing love, forgive our sins, and help us to bear fruit. Amen.

The Lord God watches over the way of the righteous, and makes righteous those who

stumble and fall. Today your sins are forgiven, and you have been made right

with God, a loving, gracious, and merciful Lord.

PEACE

PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray. Praise the Lord! C: Praise the Lord, O my soul! You have

done so many things that we cannot do. Your goodness extends even beyond our ability to see. Receive our praise for all that you do and for all that you are!

FIRST READING: Isaiah 35A reading from the prophet Isaiah.

 The wilderness and the dry land shall be 

glad,the desert shall rejoice and blossom;like the crocus  2it shall blossom 

abundantly,and rejoice with joy and singing.

The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.They shall see the glory of the LORD,

the majesty of our God.  3Strengthen the weak hands,and make firm the feeble knees.

  4Say to those who are of a fearful heart,"Be strong, do not fear!Here is your God.

He will come with vengeance,with terrible recompense.He will come and save you."

  5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,and the ears of the deaf unstopped;

18The disciples of John reported all these things to him. So John summoned two of his disciples  19and sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?"

20When the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, 'Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?'"  21Jesus had just then cured many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind. 

22And he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought to them.  23And blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me."
