Stop by the table and learn what happens five nights a week in Bloedel Hall. For the last 18 years, Sunday through ursday, hospitality is extended to 30 homeless women in Bloedel Hall. Evening volunteers work 9:00–10:30 p.m., serving the women a light dinner. Morning volunteers assist staff from 5:50–7:00 a.m., offering continental style breakfast to the women, as well as helping staff with cleanup. We are always looking for volunteers. Ministry Opportunity: Cathedral Office Volunteer We have an opening for a front desk volunteer in the cathedral office on Fridays, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. is ministry provides the initial contact to many people who come to Saint Mark’s. It primarily entails greeting visitors and answering the phone, and assisting with office projects as needed. Interested in joining this friendly and dedicated team? We will discuss the increase in Islamophobia in our coun-try and how it poses a significant threat to all of us, along with specific concrete actions each of us can take to combat Islamophobia. Upcoming Sunday Forums: Early History of Saint Mark’sSUNDAY MAY 7 & 14, 10:10 AM, BLOEDEL HALL In two illustrated lectures on successive Sundays, Alan Davidson presents his research into the Cathedral’s earli-est years. He focuses on the striking demographic and economic growth of Seattle during the 1880s that caused a group of Trinity’s lay leaders to form a second Episcopal parish in Seattle (1889), the building of the first church in what was then “North Seattle”, the contributions of the new parish to Seattle’s religious and civic affairs, and the evolving residential patterns that prompted a relocation of the church to First Hill (1897).

Mr. Karosi is First Prize Winner of the Leipzig International J. S. Bach Competition. Choral Evensong on the Fourth Sunday of Easter SUNDAY, MAY 7, 4:30 PM, CATHEDRAL NAVE Saint Mark’s intergenerational Evensong Choir will offer a much beloved setting of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis: Charles Villiers Stanford’s setting in C major. Stately, tune-ful, and radiating optimism, this was Stanford’s own favorite among his seven settings. In addition, the choir will sing Christina Rossetti’s poem, Love is the Key, in a haunting set-ting by the American composer Anthony Piccolo. Come lift your praises and prayers in the slanting rays of an early May afternoon, and in the glorious assurances of Eastertide.

Cappella Romana presents Saint Petersburg: Venice in the NorthFRIDAY APRIL 28, 7:30–9:30 PMPRE-CONCERT TALK AT 6:30 PMFollowing its sold-out concert of Rautavaara’s Vigilia in January, Cappella Romana brings to Saint Mark’s a thrilling exploration of Rus-sian Orthodox choral works from the Imperial Court Chapel in Saint Petersburg. Hear stun-ning music by the Venetian Classical masters—employed there under Catherine the Great—in-cluding Giuseppe Sarti and Baldassare Galuppi, and Galuppi’s star Ukrainian student Dmitri Bortnyansky. Cappella Romana first performed “Venice in the North” at the 2016 Early Music Festival in Utrecht (Netherlands), and features Saint Mark’s Associate Musician & Choir School Director Rebekah Gilmore in the ensemble.
