SunGard’s Long-term and Mobile Recovery solutions offer the UK’s most advanced range of facilities and services to help your organisation survive a building loss without having to relocate. they have proved ideal for government departments, local authorities, schools, military bases and businesses whose recovery time objectives are measured in days or weeks.
We provide everything you need to keep running from your own site, from a comfortable, well-equipped workplace to all the accompanying technology. Pcs, servers, communications (including data and telephony) can be pre-configured to your requirements and transported to your nominated site at time of disaster.
We offer a choice of cost-effective packages so that you only pay for what you need. these include Long-term Workplace, Long-term computer Equipment Rooms and mobile infrastructure Packages. Our range of tried and tested solutions enable you to resume near normal business operations until you are able to restore your original office or data centre.
Our purpose-built buildings – on 24-hour standby at our central distribution centre in the midlands – are constructed of modular blocks, accompanied by generators, UPSs and all necessary furnishings.
Long-term Recovery Solutions can be constructed within four to 30 days, depending on the size of building(s) required. When a smaller workplace is needed, SunGard’s fleet of mobile buildings can be delivered to your premises in a much faster time frame, normally within 24 hours.
What’s more, SunGard will transfer ownership of the Long-term building to your organisation if your permanent building cannot be recovered inside a 13 week time frame. in the case of SunGard’s largest Long-term buildings, that’s an asset worth £1.5m.
The SunGard Availability Services approach
SunGard offers a unique range of services according to your business needs and the nature of the invocation: SunGard is the only major provider to offer Long-term Recovery and provide the appropriate infrastructure, it and communication resources.
Long-term Workplace Recovery – SunGard constructs high-specification Workplace Recovery accommodation, configured to suit your organisation’s needs, at a location nominated by you.
SunGard will survey the nominated site – often a car park – prior to an invocation and assist with any necessary planning applications to ensure that the structure conforms to local authority regulations.

these buildings provide a comfortable office environment, including toilet facilities, for up to 300 staff. their modular nature makes them highly flexible so that a mix of computer room and office accommodation can be provided to meet the requirements of any business.
Long-term Workplace Recovery buildings are powered by generators for up to a month after invocation to allow time for mains electricity to be installed, although the use of a mobile generator and UPS can be extended for a longer period by subscription for up to 13 weeks, if necessary.
QuickShip – Each of SunGard’s Workplace Recovery centres has sufficient fixed Pc technology to meet our customers’ immediate recovery and testing requirements. But when a mobile Recovery solution is needed, because property and equipment has been damaged, SunGard’s QuickShip package provides all the technology you need to support a recovery at your site, including Pcs, servers, telephony and Lan recovery services.
to allow rapid deployment, Pc units are stored and delivered in purpose-built wheeled flight cases. they will fit through a standard door and into most lifts.
SunGard provides the same high-specification model Pcs, (refreshed at regular intervals) for all fixed and mobile recovery solutions. We aim to get you fully operational within eight hours. Once equipment has been delivered and assembled, our sophisticated imaging methodologies allow a Pc ghost image to be multi-cast to multiple Pcs in minutes, slashing Lan restore times.
Computer Equipment Room solutions – it is not always the workplace that is affected by a disaster. Our Long-term Computer Equipment Room (CER) solutions provide full, raised floor temporary cER accommodation at or near your site supported by uninterruptible power supply (UPS), generators and air conditioning.
Like our Workplace Recovery option, temporary cERs are built of modular blocks and sized to suit your business needs. individual building sizes range from 1,054 sq ft (98m²) for four units to 6,878 sq ft (639 m²) for 26 units.
cERs are powered by generators for one-month period after invocation to allow time for mains electricity to be installed, although the use of a mobile generator and UPS can be extended for a longer period by subscription for up to 13 weeks.
Mobile Infastructure Packages – the Mobile Infrastructure Package provides short-term support when an incident has occurred that affects your normal operations but is not serious enough to require a full transfer to one of our fixed-site Recovery centres.
typically, this might mean where there has been a minor fire, limited water damage or loss of electricity through an incident such as fire, explosion or flooding. the service comprises:
– Portable accommodation and storage units
– mobile air conditioning units and power distribution units
– diesel generators and UPS
– Rapid portable structured cabling.

mobile Workplace Units were designed and built for a national bank to allow it to recover and continue operating its local branches; complete with separate customer and staff areas, teller facilities and security measures. the ‘mobile branch’ is ready to serve the bank’s customers throughout the Scottish Highlands and islands.
a self-contained office unit was required to support six investigators. the facility had
to be able to be deployed and operational anywhere in the UK within 24 hours. SunGard designed and built a new solution to meet these unique requirements, which included a generator; an interview room and toilet, in addition to all the technology to support the investigators in their work. the unit’s frequent use means it is dedicated to that customer.
